Topic: Is there anyone who can explain this tag to me?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I thought plagarism was frowned upon here, yet the tag
Traced has a lot of approved traced posts, some of which are pure plagarism, not even just minor tracing. I can understand posts like this or this post since AI modifications and meme templates are allowed, but stuff like
this post
This post

Are plagarism, right? Or is this with artists permission? Im sorta confused here, and an answer from a mod or someone who knows more than i do would be great. Thanks!

I don't think most of the stuff active under the tag has ever been flagged for deletion, (other than the stuff that's currently flagged) stuff needs to be flagged with for it to come over their desk. they can't fix something they don't know about, the janitors aren't going to just browse through the traced tag to try to find culprits.

I believe that some stuff, like tracing over real photos or AI art is generally found to be acceptable. Tracing art is generally not permitted.

This one is pretty blatant, but it was approved before the traced tag and its parent was added. As far as I can tell, the post has never been flagged either - so it would've relied on a janitor trawling through the traced tag and finding it manually.

Also very blatant, and the traced tag plus its parent were on the image at the time the post was approved. I can imagine the parent post was just overlooked as a variant and it was just approved as normal. Had it been a flag instead, I can't imagine this getting approved - it wasn't flagged until 30 days later, 2 hours before me making this post.

Basically, people need to use the flag for deletion tool if there's actually a problem, nobody's going to notice it if you just slap a traced tag onto it and leave.

There's also stuff like the redraw of a Louis Wain drawing that I posted a link to. I am not sure if it's actually a redraw since the source is locked due to how Pixiv censors basically force artists to disable galleries. :( I don't know if that would be considered a 'trace'.
