Topic: Which fast-food restaurant have the best fries?

Posted under Off Topic

Personally I love the Wendy's fries now that they switched to thick cut steak fries and use sea salt.

Updated by anonymous

Mcdonalds fries are good, but only while they're still hot.
I like Burger King's fries pretty well, and they have sweet potato fries now too.

Updated by anonymous

I like McDonald's fries. Wendy's fries are dry beyond belief.

Okay, I think the off-topic topics are starting to get a little too petty.

Back in the 80's and early 90's, before they changed the recipe? Burger King. Nowadays I'm inclined to like Rally's fries the best.

I make my own fries. They're healthier, tastier, and can be salted to taste. Plus, I don't have to deal with an underpaid cook.

I like Burger King fries the best, with McDonald's a close second.

McDonald's. The fact that I work there has nothing to do with it. ;)

Ever added extra 'ingredients' to the food?

Burger King's fries for me.

They have a nice crispy texture, only when they're fresh though.

Not if I want to keep my job! And at $9/hour it's better than minimum wage.

BK's fries hold their flavor better than a lot of others when they're cold.
Still lose crispiness though.

Am i the only one who think burger king fries taste like plastic and ass? They just feel wrong in my mouth somehow.

I think the best fries come from the club where I work but unless you're in central London I'll just keep them to myself.

Lol

Related to this, I can't say exactly which fries are the best. For example, where I live, BK's are salty and crispy, and in other BKs are just... plain.
Besides there are some independent burger/hot dog stands that also make good fries.
IMO, it's more a fact who's the fryer than the company who sells them ;D

Did somebody noticed that I said "The Football Man" and after that hg3300 posted? Though I doubt hg's real name is Johnny

I enjoy Carl's Jr. fries with McDonald's as a close second.

I make some beastin fries who all wants to come over to my place and try em out? xD

I like Burger King's fries when they're warm and fresh. Oddly enough, I like McDonald's fries the best ONLY when they're cold. I mean refrigerator/feezer cold. It's very odd

It's not...I think I have stated what my username means in an earlier thread, but I cut it short for ya and say the first two letters are my first two initials.

I imagined it. Well, not exactly. I was saying that after I said "Football Man", you posted later, with the avatar of an eagle playing football :D

The problem with Burger King Fries is that, if I'm going to order a side at Burger King, I'm going to take onion rings over fries every time.

Yes.

No. Some salt in fact comes from mines.

As for the Fry question, I gotta say Hardee's.

You mean the mining of deposits of salt that are there as a result of evaporated ancient seas and oceans?
Yeah, it's still sea salt.

Hammie, shush.

Sea salt=/=salt. While mined mineral salt is still a result of water evaporating, it's technically not the same as sea salt. They have slightly different chemical composition and different tastes due to that. Most junk food and fast food (including fries) use sea salt.

And speaking about fries, I got no opinion on this topic since the only fast food restaurant fries here are Mcdonald's. :C (Well, there's a Burgerking on the other side of the town somewhere, but I never go there so yeah..)

It's all sodium chloride.
There's different impurities though.
But then, the same is true depending on what ocean/sea you get the salt out of too.

Yeah, it's still sea salt.

This is like saying "cucumbers are fruits" when talking about food. Correct in one sense (cucumbers are botanic fruits), but not correct in the context (cucumbers are culinary vegetables, not fruits), and the sort of thing that makes you sound like a smug asshole. "Sea salt" and other types of salts have different organoleptic properties, because of the difference in composition (impurities) and crystal size. Those differences are important in culinary application.

That's like saying all water is sea water, and all life is space dust.

On a separate note: Which came first: salt or oceans?

Oh, I know! Everything is made of itty-bitty-tiny little particles called atoms...
Can we continue the discussion of which fast food restaurant has the best fries?
