I’ve seen this a lot, and I’m very confused as to why this is. If anyone can explain this weird thing, please let me know.

As an image booru, anyone can upload any art they want as long as it meets the site's guidelines. Very few artists actually upload their art here.
So just because someone uploaded an artwork doesn't mean they necessarily own it or got permission to upload it. Artists always have the ability to verify themselves or to have their art taken off the site.

Most uploaders source from many different artists but mods and privileged users tend to have the highest upload count and variety.

That's not exactly true.

"Very few artists actually upload their art here." – We actually have quite a few verified artists uploading their work to the site. Plus a ton more who aren't verified.
"So just because someone uploaded an artwork doesn't mean they got permission to upload it." – We do ask that you receive permission from the artist before uploading their work to the site.

Staff members and privileged users don't have tons of uploads out of the blue.
It's the other way around – people who upload a lot tend to rise in ranks.

For a few months now, my only uploads have been superior replacements of posts from other people. Thus, those posts get listed under my account.

Clearly it's because we are all famous and artists flock to draw us.

imma get famous for being a uploader here and gets art from it
i do shit for years and the only payment I got so far is pain and suffering

now that i think of, that's what you staff gets payment so i'm not the only one

I've seen artists offer free commissions for helping them upload stuff.
But that's not a very common occurrence.

The only real reward for uploading a lot is epeen and a higher upload limit. The latter becomes irrelevant after a point because there's also a 30 per hour hard limit (unless you're privileged) and approvals are slow enough for you to hit the cap with around a half hour of effort. (This is not a complaint, I understand it's done on a volunteer basis and everyone has stuff going on.) Epeen can get you noticed and possibly eventually to the higher ranks.

(I'm not staff, don't speak for them, don't work for DragonFruit, et cetera.)

I've been on other sites that provide rewards in the form of site perks in exchange for contributions. They had a whole gamified system for it. Many people used various scripts, some self-developed.

I would greatly resent you if you were reuploading and tagging my art with the expectation of a reward.
Do it for the love of art and no other reason.

Ditto what others have said, rewards for uploading shouldn't be expected aside from having beibg recognized as an active and contributing member of the community.

That said, I recognize and highly respect your upload count and your uploads seem to be paired with thorough tagging so dou le respect from me.

In all seriousness though, reposting for artists does have some cool perks. Like, I've made friends with a lot of the ones I've reposted for. You get to see some cool things sometimes like wips or works they've made they won't otherwise post. Not to mention it gets you access to files that aren't sharted on by the popular websites that throttle the file quality like twitter and FA so you can get the good ones to e6 to be archived instead of deteriorated files that you'd only find at the artists main locations.

Please don't do this lol. I'm guessing the artist didn't ask you to upload their art, and you probably didn't even ask their permission to do it either. Do you realize how ridiculous it would sound to go up to them and demand money or services for something you did without them asking or even giving permission?

If you are here for any other reason than you want to be here, and enjoy it here, then maybe you are in the wrong place. This goes especially for staff. We trudge through the worst parts of our site because we enjoy the site itself.

demand money is just, unreal
if anyone actually asks for money for doing uploads is just crazy and that person just wants to be abusive towards artists

and also if you see my profile i have lots of artists that i have consent of everyone and works with them with private contact with each one, i work with each one of them being loyal to the point of being awake until 3AM to my timezone just so I can upload their stuff(call to talentless hack which I still will be doing that because i want and i'm loyal)

from the artists i work with i either helped with uploads with akittu being someone which i do his tagging so almost each post there its actually made by me but uploaded by akittu

i even recently asked for everyone i work with(so far) to give me an archive of their works so i could upload in full original quality if you want to see then click me

I already done enough so maybe a free commission of somekind can be arrangeable whenever they have time and are free of work
don't want to overwork anyone who i work with

I'm not doing it for some "reward", I have been doing uploads for what 3 years? I enjoy uploading to e6 and help artists having their stuff archived here, I am by all means help artists and not abuse the system by demanding for a payback, I know how hard they work and so they know how hard I work and honestly best decision to making uploads and to ask for the payback, firstly because I got to meet other artists better and because of that we became friends and talk almost daily sometimes, and for the payback because some artists already know how much effort I do and agreed to do it so like, after a certain amount of posts I would get a free commission from them, it's honest to my end

there are sure artists I don't want to even talk about it because they already have lots of iron in the fire to even think about my idea and I can just them let be and live life like nothing happened

anyways imma go back to messing around on blender and learning how to move and animate a cube

I believe it, you have an average of 1.5 post changes per day, and considering that someone could do like 30-90 per day if they're doing tag projects and they have a lot of free time. They would catch up to you in a couple years and you've been here since 2015.

No less impressive thiugh, I'm not even into 4 digit post edits but at this rate I might get into 4 digit forum posts.

Most of that is between 2018-2020 I've only recently started posting again after a long hiatus because employment.

I've always uploaded stuff because i'm selfish. Any other people who likes it is merely a bonus in my eyes. I mean, the crap i upload are sometimes garbage anyways. Sometimes, borderlining if it shouldn't be ON this site. Sometimes completely just for me. Even translating obscure, un wanted crap. That's either continued practice or just cuz i want to.

I just post stuff selfishly i guess? If anyone else is happy with me posting and translating shit, that's cool too.

I don't have a rank but as a common user I upload for these simple reasons:
- Preservation, the internet sucks that you never know when a place you found that cool/sexy art in the next day is just gone... that's why there are places that mirror that stuff... like here.
- I found it amusing and want to share it to see how people react
- Its a fetish/concept/character/series/artist that I feel people need to know more so I will upload so it has more eyes on it.

I don't think it's a secret that this booru isn't the only place I upload stuff...but my "main place" one day did "vanish" for some time so that made me think that it's better to try and diversify how to preserve some arts that I do like...

Wish e621 was a bit more lax with "ugly sketches" and WIPs that show it's being edited on Photoshop or something but nothing is perfect eh...
