Topic: ARE WE PICKING FAVORITES NOW?

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I'm not sure where else to put this, but my post has been deleted twice with no explanation.

The first time my post was deleted, it was flagged as a duplicate despite being an entirely unique edit of an old animation. It made even less sense given there are literally thousands of similar edits scattered across the site.

These pictures are identical apart from 30 or so pixels. Why do these stay up, but not my edit?
1. ID: 3622155
2. ID: 3622159

Many of these edits are FAR similar to the original than my edits were. But the part I don't understand, is why the first time my edit was flagged a duplicate, then after uploading again, was flagged "for reuploading deleted content", and a mark was placed on my account. I made it very clear in the description that the abimation was not a dupe, and if the entire animation was watched to the end that would be clear.

It makes no sense, ESPECIALY since there's an edit on the site 4 years old that used the same idea to make something else FROM THE SAME ANIMATION: ID: 2022888

Can someone please explain to me in clear terms why my post is against the rules and these are not?

Updated

each and every one of your deleted posts from today were deleted due to being a trivial / low quality edit; edits have a higher standard to meet than regular posts since they need to be better than the original post in order to be approved. edits that worsen the quality of the post in some way will be deleted.

Mairo was the janitor that deleted your posts, you can DMail them and ask for a more specific reason as to why each of these posts were deleted. otherwise, they were deleted because Mairo determined them to be of insufficient quality to be worth approving, maybe something went wrong that caused artifacting in the post or the linework for the edits did not match the linework used on the base image, thus making the edits look off. there's a number of possible reasons for why they deleted your posts, you could ask them to clarify.

Third-party edits also have higher standards for acceptance than alternates created by the original artist. Minor changes between versions released by the artist may be accepted, while similar changes done by a third-party may be considered a low-quality edit.

And reposting the same piece is automatic grounds for deletion. If you think something was deleted in error, you can contact the moderator that deleted it, or the head admin NotMeNotYou, and it can be undeleted as needed. There's never a reason to repost an image that was deleted.

Well I'll ask around, thank you for the clarity

Yes. I posted a few. 4230713 4230691. I was told they are "irrelevant to the site" because of human focus. I assume its because they characters had fake cat ears, and yet posts like 4230909 and 4233639, 4232589, 3246185 is acceptable. The difference being one is drawn with a head band and the other just has human and cat ears with no head band. or post 4233788 I just dont post anything anymore because its just going to net nuked.

in before the "its a screencap" excuse is used, id direct attention to 2370330 , 2870064

The animal ears aren't fake.
Literally a transformation sequence, and even if it wasn't, the post you're complaining about is pending. Nobody has gotten to approving it yet.
This one didn't go through the approval process because it's a trusted uploader, but also elves satisfy the bare minimum requirements for relevancy, so this post would've been approved anyway.
Also an elf.
The artist released this image separately, so the upload is not a screencap.
I got nothing, but also I would recommend against trying to use other people's posts to get your stuff approved. At best, maybe you get somebody else's post deleted and nothing has changed.

I promise it's not the end of the world if you get a deletion, there are several users who get by just fine despite having several hundred deleted posts.

Love the sensational title with all caps. Makes it sound like scandal or some sort of discovered love affair.

Especially when their posts in this thread are so reasonable. The whiplash was incredible. I was expecting chaos and instead it's just a civil rules clarification.

We've always been picking favorites, just not in the way you've described.
