Basically, do you think it's visually distinct enough from other opossum species? Does it still fall under american opossum?
The tag doesn't exist yet as far as I can see, but I want to make art of this one at some point, so I'd like opinions on the matter .w.
i think they deserve a distinct tag, how could you say no to such big ears

I couldn't find any, but I find it hard to identify species on artworks so I may have missed 'em.
Yes. They're not american oposssums, they are a different species.
