News: Feb 26, 2025 Show

Feb 26th:A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.

Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.

Please help spread the word about this issue and encourage others to take action.

Topic: Tag Type Request: Location \ Setting

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

e621 has a "tag type" for Artists, Species, General, Meta, Characters and now I want to request a new "tag type", Location \ Setting. There is a lot of tags for Location \ Setting in the General tag type already, and I think e621 could use them in better way then leaving them in General tag type. The Location \ Setting depicted by an artist plays a big role in animation or artwork, especially in lewd content, as it helps the artist fulfill their and/or other peoples fantasies.

To me, we should call the new tag type, Location \ Setting. It covers the most ground.

I don't see why this should warrant a new tag type. They function perfectly fine as general tags. The provided locations are also very generic, calling the usefulness even more into question. Real places are usually copyright tags, so those are already out of the general category. I don't see what moving these to a new category would do for anyone, besides be more complicated for no reason.

I feel that a new category for voice actors would be added first before your suggestion, tbh. Non-specific locations are already pretty well suited in the general category.

Also I find it interesting that you use backslashes instead of forward slashes.

The general tag is really the ideal place for generic objects and locations.
