most fur covered tails don't really have a noticable taper, cat tails tend to be pretty uniform in thickness along the whole length, and canine tails are usually thinner at the base with the fur fanning out a bit along the middle before ending in a tip, which doesn't really count as a tapered tail imo.
A tapering_tail is a tail which is thick at the base and then tapers down to a point.
