Topic: Confusing deletion

Posted under General

This forum regards post #4246359 and takedown #19826, the post was deleted because there’s furaffinity user named Sketh said that they’re the owner of that post and wished for deletion and it got deleted afterwards as an “Artist requested takedown”. The point is that her reason is the literal definition of contradiction, the artist of the work is akino-kamihara and he’s a male (this Sketh user is a female (according to her bio on furaffinity)), and there’s no doubt they’re not the same person because their artstyles are different and if by chance it’s truly her artwork, why would she just request for a single post to be deleted; and before anyone says that she must’ve collaborated with akino, then sorry, akino never once mentioned her in the source of the post on pixiv and it’s from 2012, so she, in no way (as of now), is related to that post, and even if she does, she’s still the middleman (the 3rd party), and per the rules:

You SHOULD submit a takedown request if you are one of the following:

Artist wanting their own artwork removed.
Character owner wanting artwork featuring their character removed.
A commissioner who has paid for the artwork in question.
Publisher wanting a publication or excerpts of a publication removed. Please note that these takedowns can potentially be a little trickier to handle properly, and so communication with a site admin will likely be needed after submitting the takedown request.

You SHOULD NOT submit a takedown request if you are one of the following:

User wanting artwork removed because they believe it breaks a site rule. You should instead use the site's Flag For Deletion tool (found on every post's page) for each post that you wish to dispute.
Friend, relative, or fan of an artist, character owner, or commissioner who wishes to act as a middlemen for the artist, character owner, or commissioner.
Commissioner or character owner wanting to remove art that the artist themselves has posted. In those cases please ask the artist to file a takedown request for you.

And btw, she's not the owner of neither the Flareon nor the Lucario, and obviously neither the Ninetales nor the Arcanine, so she doesn't have the right to request takedown the post as the character owner

you should probably message NotMeNotYou and ask about this, since they're the only user who handles takedown requests and knows / can figure out what happened. otherwise, there's not much that can be done other than dig through the artists' respective sites and find out whether or not Sketh was the artist, commissioner, character owner, or even copyright holder of those works.

however, if what you're saying is true... why did you add their artist tag to that post? takedowns work off of tags or provided post IDs, anything tagged Sketh would be taken down by a takedown made by Sketh, and so on if it was by character owners (etc.).

The post was probably just invalidly tagged and caught in the crosshairs.

I never added the "sketh" artist tag, it was probably NotMeNotYou or the auto-moderator

you did, though, on your second edit for that post's tags.

just checked, yeah, it's me, somehow I did typo it from "sketch" to "sketh" (I was in a rush because it was a mass upload so I probably forgot that I already tagged it as a sketch work and re-tagged it along with the earlier posts that are sketches but forgot to tagged as "sketch") and I guess this explains why only post #4246359 was deleted

Then there must’ve been a lot of users that mis-typed “sketch” into “sketh”, since there was an overwhelming amount of posts that were deleted at the exact same time (literally a few minutes before this forum was made) by the auto moderator for the exact same reason, there are some that had been in e621 for almost a decade

In theory this should be pretty easy to check, as the image would end up with more than one artist tag, assuming that the uploader tagged the correct artist as well.

sketh -nyto status:any arttags:>1 (nyto is another name for sketh) only returns 2 results - post #2245261 seems to be the only mistake, but I can't actually read the text at the Inkbunny source without an account. It's a sketch, and I doubt a sketch would be a collab.

edit: finally found my account details, it does indeed seem to be the result of a typo. I'll DMail NMNY about it.

The other result, post #843535, is a collab between fivel and sketh so that's a valid deletion.
