The tag alias #64309 cnc -> rape_play has been approved.
Reason: 21 cnc, 42 consensual_non_consent; overlap of 7 (33% of smallest tag)
Neither has a useful tag wiki entry.
Can't think of anything else cnc stands for, looks plausible for all entries, "cnc" is non-descriptive without already knowing meaning.

consensual_non_consent means that the sub is entrusting control of the scene entirely to the dom. this might include agreeing that safewords can be ignored (!), but it doesn't automatically imply rape as it (ironically) involves negotiation and agreement beforehand.

One of the most widely held kinks. It's when all parties are consenting, but roleplay as if the sub isn't.
consensual_non_consent is definitely a bad tag name, rape_play is 1000% a more clear term.
I'm also a bit apprehensive about aliasing a initialism to anything. especially when, outside of the community, that same term is much more commonly used for other things.

does it though? any more than having the word "non-consent" in there? any more than the entire concept of having sex while pretending like you're getting raped?
ehh... either way, I just honestly I do not like the idea of changing a tag name to a potentially less clear/coherent term solely because of the other term has some perceived bad connotations. if the name change made the tag more clear or have less category confusion, or had some positive utility, or heck, even was a change with totally neutral outcome it'd be fine, I just don't believe that's the case here; rape_play is a more easy to understand term than consensual_non_consent

I don't think they are trying to change rape_play to consensual_non_consent. If anything consensual_non_consent should be aliased to rape_play and so should cnc. However, the alias for consensual_non_consent -> rape_play has been pending for 7 months, though, so it makes sense that people would see them as separate tags still.

When I see 'cnc' I immediately think of a cnc machine or the actual process of machining a part, not 'consensual_non_consent'.
I'm honestly really surprised so many people here didn't know the cnc acronym or associate it with something else. Would've expected the sexual meaning to be much more known here than any other meanings lol. I personally didn't know about cnc machines until like a couple weeks ago.

i'll also throw my hat in to say that i have never heard the acronym cnc used in the context of bdsm before reading this thread, always just watched vids where someone was machining something with a cnc machine

I think I originally heard it from Wintergatan's Marble Machine X videos before he got obnoxiously muskpilled and then also ended the series prematurely.

My geek bias showing, haha. Yeah, CNC is well-known among people in the more technical hobbies or professions.
