Topic: find a reply to my comments?

Posted under General

hi there.
i commented on qite a few images by now.
but how do i find out if someone ever replies to my comment?

my Account Page has "Search for myself in comments"
but even though someone replied to my comment in the post below, including a quote of my comment, it does not show up in the mentioned search.
(Rated Safe) https://e621.net/posts/160858
so .. how to find comments that replied to the comments i posted a while ago?
is there even a way, other than checking every post i ever commented before?

The reason that one doesn't seem to is because it seems like you changed your name, if you check the reply, it specifically says "shadeofthenight" not "fiftyshadesofnight"

https://e621.net/forum_posts?commit=Search&search%5Bbody_matches%5D=shadeofthenight

you can also search for comments/forum posts with /users/991089 in the body and it should bring up any time you've been quoted, regardless of name change.

also worth mentioning that this site searches for replies by just looking up any and every comment that matches your username, FiftyShadesofNight

for example if someone decided to name themself alike to some ordinary object like "faucet" or something, their replies are gonna be pretty useless since every instance of the word "faucet" as a reply, so you'll look up replies and just see stuff like "that's a nice looking faucet" and it have absolutely nothing to do with you

Who would do that?

Pretty sure that's what this would help for:

am i losing my mind? i could have sworn the quote said "FiftyShadesofNight" said: ..." when i checked it. like it automatically changed my name in there too.
but no, it says ShadeOfTheNight.
thanks. so it seems this method does work

not as precise i guess?
i mean, it shows me the Post that i mentioned initially.
but the search only shows the comment "They're holding hands"
the search does not show the comment "just a guess, but prbably a case of literal translation, and what is meant to be said is "don't stare". but again, just a guess"
even thoiugh both replied to the same comment of mine.

what "DefinitelyNotAFurry4" suggested, shows both these comments, and all the other ones too. while the method of "sipothac" only shows 3 comments in total, which is not all of them.

that's because you're searching for the url that quotes use, the quotes that don't show up use /user/show/991089 instead of /users/991089
don't ask me how or why those commenters quote like that, it just how it be

I wonder what idiot would pick a username like that :V Surprisingly there's very few false positives searching the forums, but the comment mentions are about actual faucets more often than not.

On the other hand, it's always fun when you get to tag a post you're uploading with your own username: user:faucet faucet
