This is mostly a feature request as it were.
Furaffinity, SoFurry, Weasyl and IB, they all have access to stories.
E621 started as a catch-all for all sorts of furry art, except for one thing. The written word. The big question is ... why?
That I have followers on the big two, though not in the disgustingly high number that some popular visual artists get, and I'm able to get commissions, it says there's a market.
What I'd like to see is the ability to post .rtf/.doc/odf/pdf files in some way. Maybe this is a bit too complicated to code in.
A suggestion that fits with what's currently available in the upload UI - Allow a high-resolution title card with story name, author name and icon to be placed as the submission, with the text of the story in the description. I tested it, and a 4500 word story takes up just half the character limit on those descriptions.
You look through the Good And Bad Things to upload, and here's the thing... it references furry art. Everything on the site mentions art. So why isn't one of the most prolific mediums of art not represented? Why can't it be?
This is a massive website that has become insanely popular with furries. A lot of them go here specifically and sometimes don't even go to the other galleries as much anymore. Writers are currently being locked out of an increasingly necessary website if you want to get noticed.
One individual I spoke with suggested that this is like going to a pizza place and asking for tacos. But that's not really true. Furry art is furry art. E621 is meant for furry art. Using that analogy, it's more like going to a pizza place and wondering why some basic toppings aren't on the menu.
