Topic: [REJECTED] Tag implication: young_link -> young

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

why is this even a tag, honestly? we have several odd tags that seem to exist solely because they're smash character names like this and inkling_girl/inkling_boy, although zero_suit_samus got aliased away, so... ?

imo, we probably should actually have different tags for different Link incarnations, because currently it's pretty much just the toon_link design and then the other dozen of them all jammed into one tag. even of we did have tags for the different versions of the characters, it'd be odd to have a tag that's specifically for Hero of Time as a child.

character tags don't imply non-copyright tags since they can always be depicted as something other than the tag. wolf_link could be changed to an alternate_species as a fox, young_link can be aged_up, either character could be cosplayed as, and et cetera.

i'm interested in how you can age up young link that it's still recognisable as young link and gets tagged as such, instead of tagging just link.

Also link seems to have multiple animal forms, wolf and rabbit, so I wonder if there's going to be an issue with which to tag if they get changed into an alternate species

Not saying that it can't happen, just curious in how it can and how it'll be handled.

the same way you make an alternate species, by keeping recognizable aspects of the character whist changing the character. 'course, since this is the N64 era you'll more likely see it considered cosplay than aged up, however he can also have his species changed to where he's not young by that species' standard.

What are Young Link's distinguishing characteristics relative to Link aside from his youth?

mostly his clothing and armory. like i said, the N64 and earlier eras were skimpy on details, even between OoT and Majora's Mask it only really looked like Link got taller. this doesn't mean you can't age up young Link, just that you're not gonna see many differences between him and normal Link if nude. several of the other links have this exact same problem, they all look the same either by design of due to technical limitations of their era, at least young Link has a kokiri sword and deku shield...

if you really want to go into detail MM Link has an actual belt to attach the scabbard to his back, where as in OoT it's got nothing holding it there.

I mean, Hero of Time and especially as a child has like the most unique kit compared to the other incarnations with the exception of Hero of the Wild, he's got several items that are only used by him, and of the stuf that is used by other Links he's usually got a termininan version that with a unique design, he has a collection of like 50 masks, and also he's one of two that ever has a fairy companion.

all of them have unique designs, and will generally be recognizable assuming they're drawn with enough detail though. with the exception of the Hero of the Minish, the Four Who Were One, the Hero of the Rails, and the Unknown Heroes all just look identical to the Hero of the Wind.

sorry, what i meant by design was just skin and hair, since most of the Links cover themselves in a variety of garbs and/or armor. i neglected to mention things like clothes since we can use clothing to tag characters, characters cosplaying as Link also get tagged the character tag despite not otherwise appearing in the image.

ergo, an adult human cosplaying as young Link would get tagged young_link, even though they're not young. this is the crux of the problem, although an identifying trait of young Link is his age it's not his only, nor are characters forced to be young in order go cosplay as him.
