Topic: Tag implication: splatoon -> splatoon_(series)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag implication #52864 splatoon -> splatoon_(series) is pending approval.

Reason: the difference between Splatoon and Splatoon (series) confused me at first, and it would just be easier if

First Installment - splatoon -> Splatoon (series}

Second Installment - splatoon 2 -> Splatoon (series}

Second Installment's DLC - octo expansion -> Splatoon (series}

Third Installment - splatoon 3 -> Splatoon (series}

It's mostly about how Splatoon tag closely resembles Splatoon_(series) but while we're at it, let's do all of them.

This is my first forum and implication post so if someone can help me with possibly adding multiple implications or however it works, thanks.

I'm not too familiar with Splatoon (never played it) but normally individual games in series only get tags if the setting/characters/etc. are all completely different.

each game is in a different setting and the main cast shifts in each title, with the 3 main characters from the first game (agent_3_(splatoon), callie_(splatoon), marie_(splatoon)) being moved to secondary roles in the following two games. new primary characters are added in each new title, with characters also having unique outfits for each title they return in.

so like, characters are not totally stuck to the games in which they originate, so character implications would be a no-go, but there would be situations where you can tell which game is used as the post's setting. kinda like the the_legend_of_zelda individual game tags; you can tell the difference between an image of Link during the events of ocarina_of_time and majora's_mask, you should also be able to tell the difference between an image of Callie during the events of each Splatoon game.

Is that enough to distinguish them? Pokemon also has each game in a different setting and different main cast, with a few returning roles being secondary or cameos, but they're similar enough and part of larger world that it's better to treat it as a single whole. It's only when you get to things like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon or Pokemon Legends Arceus that it's worth having a separate tag.

I wanted to clarify on this:

If a person added the tag Splatoon it would also add Splatoon_(series) not that we should remove 1,2,and3. It seems that people use the Splatoon tag to reference the series as a whole even tho Splatoon (series) exists.

imo, i kind of prefer if the first game installment is just “splatoon_(game)” or other along the lines of. nintendo franchise tags like mario bros, pokemon, and animal crossing have no series in brackets so for the space for first game that isn’t large as an entire franchise tag to turn it into series brackets doesn’t sit right with me?
