I don't remember for sure – it's been a few years since I wrote that component.
But I think there was some limitation on filesize of the resulting archive.

I've looked it up, and it might not be a problem in modern browsers anymore.
But frankly, the mass downloader components are not well-designed at all, and need a full-blown rewrite.
