Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: stop -> please_dont

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #64846 stop -> please_dont has been rejected.

Reason: Please stop with aliases, they are poopoo garbage. They ruin the searching on multiple levels. It compounds multiple terms into a single one making it impossible to find what you are looking for. You cant search for #girl or #boy since any number is aliased to female/male, this means you cant search for a specific amount of any gender. Another alias like Intersex contains multiple genders, everything from penises to vaginas, to both, to neither. Searching for shemale gives you cuntboy for example, which are literally two opposites. At this point why even have tags cus they dont give you the search results you want.

EDIT: The tag alias stop -> please_dont (forum #381406) has been rejected by @Rainbow_Dash.

Ok, troll. Aliases play an extremely important role on this site, they aren't "poopoo garbage".

No, it's generally aliased to a gender, e.g. 3_boys -> male. Removing these might be something worth considering, but it's definitely not so simple and would need a lot of discussion first. Would we need to retroactively start adding these to the ~4 million posts on this site? Is there a cutoff point, e.g. is 13_males a valid tag? If it is, who would ever use it? Do disembodied_penises count towards the male count?

Intersex is a useful tag for blacklists to restrict searches to real-life biological sexes.

No, shemale is aliased to gynomorph.

Not the least of which being we don't all agree on how to count characters (per-post, per-"scene", per-panel, etc).

This shouldn't be happening. All of these tags are equivalent:

In fact, tags like these have to be aliased because people will come up with completely different tags for completely identical concepts.
If you are trying to look for shemales but getting cuntboys instead, please tell us what your search queries look like. Help us help you, that sort of thing.

I'm not sure if the <#>_<gender> tags would really have much utility (like, how often are people looking for posts with exactly 3 males in?) and they also don't scale well at all. you can already search for posts containing groups of only one gender since you can just - all the other genders, I think a more scalable solution would be adding something like fewer_<gender>s and more_<gender>s for when characters from one gender category is clearly outnumbering another in a post (2/3rds+ or so) I think tags like these would be more manageable and more functional.

Well when looking at data from, say, rule34, the #gender tags are in the most used tags. I'm not sure if this would translate to e6 if it were added since r34 has done it since inception. It's probably too late to add them as tags anyways.

most used how? like, they have the largest tag population? or do they track search metrics? because tag pop really just describes the content of the site, there's not much of a correlation between it and the tag's actually utility to a user.

I'm pretty sure the only reason these tags exist is because DanBooru kinda needs them for you to be able to search anything since the search limit there is two tags, and almost every other booru just copied tags from there. and r34.x is litterally just an amalgamation of copied shit, tags from DanBooru, posts bot re-uploads directly from e6, theme and aesthetic aped from Paheal.
