Hrm. I wonder if there have been any mistags because of that alias. Doujin can be anything: games, music, comics, etc. The term is used in similar way as 'indie' is used in the west.

But this proposed alias is much less vague. Doujinshi specifically refers to doujin comics and magazines.

It's been quite a few years since it was proposed (forum #11305) and there wasn't any discussion on it (that I could find at least). It's probably been long enough that reconsidering it is an option.

Alias denied. The following changes were made instead:

Doujinshi can now be used to refer to a loosely defined subtype of self-published comics from Japan. These comics are usually collaborative works that are often, but not always, written in Japanese.

Information for many doujinshi works can be found by searching doujinshi.org. An alternative way to do this is to just google site:doujinshi.org NameOfArtist/Comic/etc.. or other website (note that paid doujinshi works under 2 years old are still considered DNP). I will be adding more tips on this to the doujinshi wiki page.

I don't know if there is a specific law about that in Japan, but this is just following the usual paid content rules found in the Code of Conduct. For doujinshi, a lot of people just forget many of them are paid content, or don't know enough about the comic to realize it is.
