Topic: Blacklisting by Pool?

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Every now and then, a comic (which are usually organized in pools) comes along that I absolutely do not vibe with, to put it very mildly. Problem is, some of the tags involved can be... tricky. Maybe I am okay with them in certain situations, but not others, or something. Or maybe some tags are just prone to misuse so I'm hesitant to blacklist them even though at least 60% of the time I hate it. There can be other reasons as well. Point is, there are times where simply adding tags to a blacklist (yes, even with combined tags and tag operators) isn't really an ideal solution. So with that in mind, it'd be great to be able to blacklist entire pools, the same way you can blacklist images posted by a certain user, certain ratings, etc. As far as I can tell, that's not yet an option- if it is, and I just didn't get it right (I tried adding pool:pool_title and pool:#### to my blacklist, but it doesn't seem to work), please tell me how. Otherwise, please add this capability!

I get what you mean, blacklisting certain tags might not blacklist all the pages, and maybe you like the artist and just not the comic so blacklisting the artist doesn't quite fit either.

Exactly! It'd be nice to actually just blacklist by pool. This comes up more often than you might think, heh.

The blacklist has issues with some very specific things - for example, the OR operator ~ doesn't always work properly. What I believe is the part of the code that determines post properties doesn't appear to check pools or sets at all.

Damn. This really needs to be fixed. Not being able to blacklist pools is a pain in the rear, to put it mildly.

Posts do have the list of pools they're in in the json (though not the db dump for some reason), and from what I understand all that stuff is available to the client. So, it should be possible without major changes.

I would like to remind everyone that e621 is open source - if you want to contribute, you are free to do so. There is at least some work being done on blacklist improvements actively.

I wish I could, but that kind of thing just makes my head spin. I wouldn't even know where to start. I know some basic coding, but anything related to the internet, for the most part, is totally alien to me.

What kind of things are currently being worked on in regards to the blacklist? Got me curious, now.

Pools, tag counts and some others are being worked on.
