for everything that is worn, we have as follows: headwear, eyewear, topwear, bottomwear, underwear, legwear, and footwear. almost every clothing type of these imply those tags at least, e.g stockings imply legwear.
but there isn't any implications for neck items (scarf, necklace, kerchief, etc) implying neckwear but neckband. would it be necessary to make a project to imply the specific neckwear?

I support a neckwear tag, as long as it's not made to imply clothing. Scarves, collars, necklaces, etc. aren't clothing, they're accessories

I'm a bit cautious about classifying a necklace as neckwear since normally the *wear tags are for categories of clothing, and we tend to not include jewelery in that which are more non-clothes accessories.
I have similar thoughts about collar.

Is there any "neckwear" that should be considered clothing? My thought was that none of it is, so neckwear would just be a separate thing and wouldn't imply clothing. It'd just be an umbrella tag for neck accessories-

Ohhhh. Hold on. Neckwear should be aliased to neck_accessory, shouldn't it. I forgot we have the *_accessory tag family.

I think most stuff that'd move a character from being nude to being mostly_nude (or clothed, in the case of topwear and bottomwear) is considered clothing/wear. so like, socks are footwear while anklets are not, gloves are handwear while bracelets are not.
so then a scarf is neckwear while a necklace is not.

i was also a bit tentative about couple of those, but technically necklace--by search--is a jewelry that is worn around the neck, and couple of instances categorized as neckwear. i feel like still doesn't negate being neckwear, collars are sometimes categorized as necklaces, especially chokers, by default are worn around the neck.
additionally, aren't eyewear such as glasses could be considered non-clothing accessories?

Oh yeah, eyewear doesn't imply clothing either

I guess that eyewear is an exception, but the difference with that is that none of the things implied to it are considered clothing, and that's why eyewear_only implies nude.

A bit late to the party, but I found something. An older thread (https://e621.net/forum_topics/29564) has similar implications and further suggested the use of neckgear. I don't agree with the definition of neckgear in this one, but an even older thread (https://e621.net/forum_topics/21674) brought up the idea to use neckwear for clothes and neckgear for non-clothing objects/accessories, the same way headwear and headgear are handled. How does that sound to you?
