They're entirely different body parts, so yes. Vaginal masturbation refers to the vaginal canal and clitoral masturbation refers to the clitoris. Trust me, they are very different things and it's absolutely worth being able to search for one or the other

It's more like distinguishing between penile vs anal masturbation for men.

Before anyone tries to gotcha me about it, yes I know about the inner structure of the clitoris :)
But the clit and vaginal canal are very much separate things and involve separate masturbation techniques that people (including me!) want to search for individually.

They are very different, and appeal to different tastes and fetishes. The distinction is especially important for female viewers for whom the sensations are very different. When you look at the where the nerves are, the difference between clitoral and vaginal for a female is more akin to the difference between penile and anal for a male. And some people want to seek out content for one or the other.

One could probably argue stimulation of the glans separate from the rest of the shaft is also a difference people want to seek out, as it is a different sensation too. I know the clitoris is more like the penis as a whole, separate from the vaginal canal, but they are much closer in proximity than the penis and anus are, to the point that it can be difficult to tell in many images which is being stimulated (if not both).

Though to be clear, I'm not strictly saying I'm against doing this change, hence the 'meh' vote instead of thumbs down. I'm just not sure of the logistics of the separation.

This is a good point actually - Do we have a tag for glans stimulation? Maybe we should. It is legitimately a kink for some people

edit: I found glansjob, glans_handjob, glans_brushing (mostly tickling fetish content), glans_torture, shaft_pumping (this one seems too generic, maybe should be aliased to penile). I'd support some kind of unified glans stimulation tag.

i'd say it's more analogous to the difference between penile_masturbation and sounding

i get that in some art the aesthetic difference between vulvic masturbation and vaginal masturbation are very similar, just a gal with her hand on her pussy, but where there is a visible difference i agree with cloud that there should be a tag for that

also +1 for glans_masturbation tag. probably helluva susceptible to mistagging and ambiguous scenarios, but i'd love to see some love for the glans personally

I think this should be simplified to have a tag like glans_stimulation, which can be applied to penile_masturbation and penile sex, without needing separate glans_masturbation (for self-stimulation) and various glans_sex (for stimulation by a separate character) tags.

Similarly, I wonder if there should be a clitoral_stimulation tag that can be applied to vaginal_masturbation and vaginal sex, rather than separate clitoral_masturbation and various clitoral_sex tags.

Of course, I was gonna say! Yeah, entirely different. There is a separate fetish for stimulating the tip versus the shaft, BTW. In no way should clitoral be considered vaginal!

I could have sworn there already was a tag for stimulating just the tip. Hmm... glansjob doesn't really seem consistent with handjob etc.

Oh there's also palming that has some more posts

I don't think this change accomplishes much, but sure. You'd hope by now that people know better than to use slang phrases like that as tags.

And, yes, we should be tagging things related to the clitoris when possible. It's the most sensitive erogenous zone. By how much I'm having a hard time finding. 10000 nerves (the commonly cited 8000 number was based on cows? lol), but how does that compare to everything else and what does that mean qualitatively? Anyway, some people want direct clitoral stimulation while others don't. For some people the clitoris is at times too sensitive and direct stimulation is painful. Good reasons to tag something.

The problem with tagging clitoral seriously is incidental contact. But actually, if you've ever looked at a sex position guide, you've probably seen a list of benefits for each position where "contacts the clitoris" is frequently listed. So that incidental clitoral stimulation is generally an advantage of certain sex positions, and tagging that incidental contact isn't necessarily a bad thing. But we'd still want visual confirmation instead of tagging, for example, a bunch of missionary and reverse missionary posts with clitoral based on expectation alone.

glans_stimulation (penis) is a bad name. The main reason is that all penile penetration should implicitly have glans stimulation, so such a tag wouldn't be saying much there. Unlike incidental clitoral contact, this is guaranteed. You'd want a glans_play-type tag making it clearer that the glans is targeted.

Yeah I think glans_play makes more sense than glans_stimulation as basically all penis-related stimulation will happen at the glans, like you said including any sex happening. It would become a hyper inflated and relatively useless tag because anyone looking for specific glans-only stimulation would just end up seeing 90% of all explicit rated posts...

Glans_play is a perfect name I think

That's not really true, though, the shaft is sensitive to stimulation too.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is on this site, "glans_stimulation" would be a completely useless tag because it will apply to basically every explicit post that contains sex or masturbation with a penis because it is almost never just shaft stimulation. I'm not sure I've ever seen a post where just the shaft of a penis is being stimulated, especially since stimulating the shaft typically comes with foreskin moving which is going to stimulate the glans anyways enough to be coined "gliding action" even after circumcision masturbation will still stimulate the glans slightly. So unless the shaft isn't being jerked at all that's the only time I could ever see where shaft stimulation would exist where glans stimulation would not. Simply put, it's way too broad of a tag when anyone that would actually be looking for the tag would almost always want the aforementioned "glans_play" tag instead.

Could we add it? Sure, but sex with a penis simply implies glans stimulation is happening.

I mean, common sense says it would mean only targeted stimulation, but inheritance rules of implications... glans_play is the better tag. And yes, I know that the glans is a clitoral analog. Same reason we tag urethra only on females/herms/maleherms/andromorphs. AFAIK, it's not really that useful for something like sounding which already has urethral-related tags.

The bulk update request #6288 is active.

create alias glansplay (0) -> glans_play (174)
create alias glans_stimulation (0) -> glans_play (174)

Reason: Yeah, just making sure no one uses glans_play (already used) or glans_stimulation (preventive). I'm going to have to go through glansjob and make sure it's actually glansplay before asking for an alias.

EDIT: The bulk update request #6288 (forum #387722) has been approved by @Rainbow_Dash.

Suggestion: imply glans_palming (or palming_glans whatever) to glansplay. It's a specific act that's more common that you might expect. It refers to rubbing the tip of the penis with your palm, usually related to overstim

Why specifically from glans_play to glansplay? More tags have the underscore between them if we're following convention

Oh, OK, I thought it was to be consistent with the other *play/*_play tags. :edit: Hell, you're right. I thought it was the other way around. Derp!

post #4330942 Yeah, this post has some other variants. I can edit the script to match what makes more sense to use. Those all seem to be glansplay, but some seem to be more specific like palming.
