Topic: How Do 'You' Handle Burn out? What Are Some Ways You Relax, Dood?

Posted under Art Talk

That's my secret, I'm always burn out. What I do however is listen to anything (music, youtube, documentaries, etc) while doing my job, chores, hobbies, etc. I keep my mind "busy" by doing two things at once, I essentialy slow down the "burn out" by distracting myself while doing something.

I can't avoid burn out, but I can keep it at bay.

"Shows that you worked hard"

"Shows just how dedicated you are to your craft"

"You're burnt out because you take your work and life seriously!"

All of it is hoobar, Just little mental tricks peeps say to peeps
to keep them on the clock even when their body is saying
"Stop now, Work will not work until you blow off some steam!"
by indirectly saying if you don't feel like slime, You're lazy.

The worst part is that it doesn't take another person to
perpetuate that cycle of overwork; More times than no
we do it to ourselves and are rewarded for thinking like
that. Ignoring our own bodies' need to rest
"to just get one more thing done, I promise I'll take a break just one more-" etc.

Burn out is a critical body failure that happens if we ignore the sirens to stop.
It's o.k to take a break, exhaustion closes the gates of creativity, energy, and happiness.
You don't even need to do anything just drop the pen, Step away and lay down.
If you don't have the time, make the time. An hour or 5 minutes~

Just take a rest, Dood -‿-)

In the staff world burn out is very real, and it comes for all us eventually. In our staff questionnaire we even have an important question on how one is to suspend burn out.

I've been here more than a decade, and it can be very hard. If I'm starting to get burnt out, I take a step back and slow down, lean on friends, and make peace with the fact that I don't need to do everything on my own. It really depends though. Sometimes the burn out is much more severe, and I need to take a few weeks to myself. I need to go back and find my roots; find the reason I want to be here and what happiness it brings me. Friends help that out a lot.

Definitely! Speaking to Friends, Family or even peeps online works wonders during the heat.
There's something so therapeutic about vocalizing the stress you've been feeling to another!
Like popping the cork off a wine bottle or in my case calling out Tyrant Rave
with Kachoufuugetsu Kai (The Beauty of Nature: Revised) ╹‿╹)~★
It feels amazing to get things off your chest and helping others by hearing out what's been stressing
them out too. All the built-up pressure relieved with a good convo, Dood!

Though don't forget the other classics~!

A nice work, Watching a good vid or just chilling out with a great single-player game!
For a soloist like myself, who Draws my energy from my alone time. Nothing quite
like chilling out with Skyrim. The world melts away as I enjoy my time making
the best-looking Orc in the land, Dood~! ◠‿╹)~★

That's the thing, I don't! It's expected when you have grandiose goals like I do. However, that doesn't mean I don't distract myself to make it less bad.

Some of my go-to other hobbies which help keep me more stable and sane are:

  • Retrogaming/retrocomputing
  • Modding old game systems
  • Trying less serious art (like low-res shitposty stuff drawn into weird places like "draw to determine your age" games)
  • Looking at memes
  • Talking to friends

However, I don't always need to do one of my other hobbies, sometimes I can just go out somewhere like a store or out to eat or even just organize my workspace at home. As long as it lightens my mood, it helps.

I rarely have time to recover when experiencing burnout. It's either applying for jobs, figuring out how job application stuff is done online (I am older than the internet BTW), and sometimes looking at gay furry porn in my spare time. Going through periods of burnout after my body feels knackered after working all day doing Craigslist gigs for cash under the table wears you out when nearing middle age. I luckily got scheduled a job interview pretty soon for Best Buy so I can have some stable income.... wish me luck.

My best ways of distracting myself from the dull gray realities of adult life is playing games and streaming movies on my Xbox One, browsing e621 on my Chromebook, and experimenting with Ubuntu Linux on my freshly repaired PC that originally ran on Windows 7. I'd reccomend some hot black tea made using a regular coffee maker, prefferably unsweet (no sugar or sweeteners), with a side of hard gingerbread cookies. I'd say gaming is one my favorite hobbies since I can't really afford to go out to eat more than once a week at most. My favorite Xbox game of all time is PvZ Garden Warfare which is an old Xbox 360 game I play on my Xbox One.... Now that I think about it, most of my Xbox games are old 360 games I kept for so many years.

mine is to isolate myself with work and try to reduce my distractions as much as i can, but the burnout question is subjective at its core, so finding a one for all solution is hard. like in some cases is not your head being all tired of doing creative work but a question of mindset and how one approaches the absurd struggle of art

in any case is question of doing enough introspection and learn how to solve internal issues, best of luck : -)
