Topic: Wanted to upload WEBM but they are duplicates

Posted under e621 Tools and Applications

I wanted to upload WEBM versions of some of my Krystal gifs, but I can't because they are recognised as copies of deleted posts that Mairo deleted. I wanted to upload the WEBMs as better and high-resolution versions, what should I do now?

Don't reupload deleted content. If it's already been deleted, it will be deleted again.

Once a post is deleted, it stays deleted. Any attempt to reupload the same file again will trigger the error.
Look at why your posts were deleted in the first place. Uploading them again in higher res will not make a difference and will get them deleted again.

Only if you have an existing post that isn't deleted, then you may flag them or request for a replacement if you want to change from low-res to hi-res.

I didn't even get the chance because I was so inexperienced. ):

Don't excessively split a single source into multiple smaller parts so you can have more variety. You are only allowed to post up to 10 variants of the same base image/video.
In your case, I would suggest to just upload one single compiled video with all of the angles/actions, instead of multiple split segments.

It used to be 4 + original, it was changed some time after your uploads to 9 + original (10 total)

Uploading Guidelines:

    • Image sets where a single "base" is reused multiple times with only minor edits (and no story or natural progression) are not allowed.
      • Small excerpts (up to 10 at a time) are okay, though.

Yeah cool but what should I do now, would be nice if we could find a solution...

The site does offer lossless video codec support, right? If it's an animation, you might as well do that, anyways.
Also, are you the artist? There are tools to convert several panels of a comic into a single image, if it's not animation. Like, most of Wolfeed's stuff should definitely be posted as a vertical comic, technically. It's really on the artist (or publisher, see Faithry or OmegaLTD) to do such edits if posting here, though. Also, didn't notice that most of those posts were taken down because OmegaLTD is DNP even on the Faithry (RIP) posts. Oh well. :(

Like I said: "Once a post is deleted, it stays deleted. Any attempt to reupload the same file again will trigger the error."

If you want your deleted posts restored, you have to contact the admin/janitor who deleted them in the first place and ask for them to be restored.
