Jeez, I really need to learn the ins and outs of this shit, huh? I thought that you had to rename the existing canonical tag before assigning an alias. Didn't even occur to me that you'd need to alias the old erroneous tag to the new canonical one either.

Normally, you can still edit the BUR to change the script. (You can't in this case due to existing transitives.)
You wouldn't be able to do that with a basic alias/implication request.
