Reason: Currently we don't have umbrella tags that allow for easy searching of all alternative fashion styles or j-fashion styles, which this BUR aims to remedy.

Additionally, there is a gap right now that leads to imprecise tagging on characters wearing fashion that is vaguely inspired by several specific styles but not really fitting into any of those styles (these are usually tagged with multiple styles which makes the tags a mess), which umbrella tags would help.

Found it, topic #39323 - I'd ideally just reject these, "scenecore" is a TikTok neologism for an established style and "scene kid" has been used since the 2000s, it's the established singular noun for someone who wears scene style. It's mentioned as such on the Wikipedia page.

I added steampunk and hippie to the original BUR as Wikipedia classifies them as alternative fashions. I also added a j-fashion -> alternative fashion implication because Wikipedia also includes most j-fashion styles on their list of alternative fashions.

Added rockabilly to the original BUR because of course there's one that I missed that was floating around.

I'm still a little unsure about steampunk. But after looking through steampunk -clothing and still not seeing much that isn't referring to the fashion style (even on nude posts, since in this context accessories and such can be part of the style), I'm a little less worried? But there are still a small handful of posts that are just referring to the genre.

Working on cleaning up goth at the moment and it really is the perfect example of why we need an alternative fashion umbrella tag. Because right now it's a jumbled mess of actual goths, mistagged punks and emos, characters that just happen to be wearing black, characters that just have black hair and/or makeup, characters wearing vague undefined alternative fashion...

And as mentioned in the initial post, there's still a rampant trend of people tagging up to 3 or 4 different styles (that aren't substyles of the same style) on the same image for the same character, usually with either only one actually fitting or none of them fitting. 😔

I think aliasing everything to scene_(subculture) (or maybe scene_(fashion)?) makes more sense, as Cloudpie and Watsit said in the other thread.

I also did a little more research into goth substyles and changed cybergoth and pastel_goth to actually imply goth now, along with adding tags for trad_goth and mall_goth. I can't think of anything else I'm missing.
