I believe these are supposed to not exist, but there are so many with hundreds of posts. How should these be handled? I thought of making a BUR to alias them all to invalid_tag but then realized that would dump a whole lot of posts into that tag.

My other idea was to alias them to an invalid_copyright tag, similarly to invalid_color and invalid_background?

Regardless, something probably has to be done with them.

Some of these are for blacklisting purposes such as is the case with Whitekitten, just as a heads-up.

Commissioner tags should be aliased to invalid_tag, that's how they've been handled thus far. Just be careful they aren't mistaken character or artist tags.

That's why I didn't include Whitekitten. :P

I'll make a BUR at least for the ones that are very obviously character owner tags based on their wiki.

Some of these pages mention that the characters have been, genuinely, copyrighted. In the case of ones created by staff/recent ex-staff, it may be worth asking why if that information is not otherwise present.

I would like to know that information then, but not sure how to go about it (I am too shy for PMs)

But it is also worth noting the dates on some of these - Foxjump was created in 2015, Avelos in 2019. Flir's was edited to remove the mention of copyright because "we don't actually know".

Gasaraki in particular is a tag trying to get around a tag already being invalidated.

Reason: Some more of these invalid commissioner copyrights, since the other one went through without any issue. This is after double-checking these are commissioners and not actual copyrights/series. It might be a good idea to add lists of characters to these as a "you may be looking for" wiki page.

We don't do commissioner copyright tags, that isn't anything new

oh, that's not usually what people mean when they say "copyright claim".

generally, individuals don't get copytags. your characters can still have _(grizzlygus), and you can still have the owner copyright in the description, which is where additional credits are supposed to go.

Kind of repeating/summarizing what was mentioned:
1) Commissioner credits are often in the descriptions (and can be both searched and links to source can be embedded ). Click on reply to see how I did that.
2) Character owners are often in the character tags themselves. Tiffy (Fastrunner2024) apparently is one of the most commonly-tagged ones like that. The vast majority seem to be series, though.
3) Pools (comics) should have descriptions just like posts, and the description usually mentions them, as well as writers for comic book scripts.
4) You should edit the Wiki to add character info, and put links to them in your profile, and link to your profile. Note that almost no one does this. :(

The commissioner or character owner tag does not directly exist, but you can use those methods to make sure someone gets credit. They don't exist for reasons going wayyyyyy back.
