Reason: Same thing. Saw a user add this to a post that already has lol_comments for some reason?

Also, why was drama suddenly removed from the definition of lol_comments? I like reading comment drama. Also that would probably require a lot of cleanup. Not that I'm gonna argue if that's the final decision, but it seems odd to suddenly change a tag that's been defined like that for years with no discussion.

If drama is getting removed I'd like to see a new meta tag called heated_comments or something

The tag's been getting locked off from drama-related posts months before the wiki change, which was given the reason of "drama isnt very funny."

It might be funny to an outside reader, but not so much for the people involved unless it's something like an argument I read here once about ponies kicking doors. That, and the tag's being added for drama in general and not funny drama.

it could be aliased to invalid, but that probably wouldn't stop people from tagging it with lol_comments.

I guess we could just invalidate lol_comments, it's not like it serves really any great purpose.

I'm aware. We have plans for that.

We've noticed that people tend to flock to lol_comments to find drama and add fuel to the fire. The reason why we don't want any tag for "drama" comments is purely for moderation purposes. It may have been that way for a long time, but it has started to become a liability for us. Hence why no discussion. While the validity of lol_comments itself may warrant some discussion, the administration has decided against having any kind of tag for drama which doesn't have any real beneficial purpose. The tag system was not built for that kind of thing anyway.

I mean, feel free to discuss it now, but I don't see that changing anything. For the sake of moderating the site, we just don't want people deliberately seeking out controversy. Many people who are doing that are just doing it for the sake of trying to make things worse.

I meant aliasing it to invalid because comment wars are not supposed to be included in lol_comments. Comment_war being aliased to lol_comments seems potentially confusing.

That's why the alias should be removed and it be changed to invalid_tag. lol_comments is now only for a stream of funny comments and not drama in the comments, but when people tag comment_war because of drama in the comments, it will get mistagged lol_comments for drama.

I'm not entirely unconvinced lol comments hasn't been ingrained as the "drama comments" tag, and believe it will continue to be misused regardless of what is or isn't aliased to it

Might it then be better to invalidate lol_comments, alias it to invalid_tag, and use something like funny_comments as a replacement? Assuming we even want to bother keeping a tag for when the comment section is full of "funny" comments (which I can see a case for just tossing it out regardless).

the only other use case lol_comments gets is for posts with intolerably unfunny comments strings consisting of pure spam. this tag is from a different time and it doesn't deserves to be dragged out kicking and screaming any longer

I'd just rather get rid of lol_comments already. Just like the drama tag, it's just inviting people to spam comment sections

That isn't a valid reason to not invalidate a tag. If that's such a concern, the tag can be nuked beforehand, then invalidated.

If that's what they want to do, that's what they're going to do. We don't really moderate sets. Despite the report option existing, we've had only 11 set reports over the last 6 years. The last report was 8 months ago. 2 of those were tests, and nothing was done with the other 9.

All of that was said to reinforce the point that we don't really care about sets. The only point at which we step in is if a set has something illegal in its title or description, which hasn't happened yet.
