Topic: [APPROVED] Weird cosplay tags BUR

The bulk update request #6889 is active.

create alias cosplay_loona_(helluva_boss) (2) -> loona_(helluva_boss) (20574)
create alias felicia_(cosplay) (1) -> felicia_(darkstalkers) (2307)
create alias morrigan_aensland_(cosplay) (1) -> morrigan_aensland (759)
create alias vampirella_(cosplay) (2) -> vampirella (49)
create alias highwire_(cosplay) (2) -> pack_leader_highwire (683)

Reason: Cosplay images are to be tagged as the character they're cosplaying. I've been seeing these pop up and they're unnecessary.

The bulk update request #6936 is active.

create alias rouge_the_bat_outfit (6) -> rouge_the_bat (23987)

Reason: This too, this is almost identical to rouge_the_bat cosplay. The only distinction is not including Rouge cosplaying other characters, but we don't do that for any other character and you can also do stuff like rouge_the_bat cosplay -bat.

Also rouge_outfit is already aliased.

The Slave Leia tag at least is justified by it being a specific alternate outfit of Leia. This is just Rouge's standard outfit.

Is this really the best way to tags characters wearing the outfits of other characters? It's really unintuitive and requires images that don't actually have a character to get tagged with that character if their outfit appears. I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to search for characters wearing Rogue's outfit until I found this thread. The tag cosplay brings to mind convention halls and characters putting together their own imitation outfits, not the general concept of wearing someone else's outfit.

This is the exact same way most other boorus use the word cosplay. And nobody wants to double the number of tags by having cosplay tags for every specific character.

Yeah, that would be really bad. I suppose what we have right now is better, but I wish there was a better option.

Last year I started topic #41043 to ask about the best way to use clothing swap, cosplay, and character outfit tags. There, I asked: does the existence of the rouge_the_bat_outfit tag mean that every time we see a character wearing someone else's costume, we should create a new "character_name_outfit" tag? And if so, should such tags be copyright tags (like the Rouge one) or general tags (like slave_leia_costume)?

I guess the fact this BUR has been approved answers those questions! Looks like those tags aren't wanted here. :(

From a very quick skim through the list of outfit/costume/suit tags, I can only see a couple that are used to represent a specific character's main clothing: spider-man_suit and spider_gwen_suit. (Neither are used on many images.)

I have a set of images of Amy Rose/Rouge clothing swaps (set:amyrouge1), but that's not much help to you if you're looking for images involving other characters. Without a "character_name_outfit" tag, you're limited to searching for different combinations of Rouge's name plus alternate_costume/clothing_swap/cosplay.
