The tag implication #56616 mummy_wrappings -> bandage is pending approval.

Reason: Mummy wrappings are just really, really old bandages

Looking at the autofill for mummy, there's actually a ton of lesser used tags that are all just alternative ways of phrasing this tag. Give me a moment and I'll make a BUR for them.

The bulk update request #6902 is active.

create alias mummy_bandages (7) -> mummy_wrappings (1114)
create alias mummy_wraps (3) -> mummy_wrappings (1114)
create alias mummy_wrap (3) -> mummy_wrappings (1114)
create implication mummy_costume (839) -> mummy_wrappings (1114)
create alias mummy_cosplay (4) -> mummy_costume (839)

Reason: I also threw in the mummy costume/cosplay tags

EDIT: The bulk update request #6902 (forum #393560) has been approved by @Rainbow_Dash.

And then we have non-bandage wraps, like with duct_tape or latex.

I'd personally argue that those aren't mummy wraps, that's covering someone with duct tape. Mummification is the process of a body being preserved so that its tissues won't decompose, whereas the process shown in the images you've posted feel like they fall under bdsm that vaguely resembles the wrapping stages of Egyptian mummification (I personally don't think either of those should be tagged with mummification and especially not with mummified, since that implies the process has been completed and both are still very much alive). The point I'm trying to make is that both the mummy wrapping tag and the average person's concept of what a mummy looks like are based off of the mummification process performed by the ancient Egyptians, which used linen bandages.

So in terms of furry art, we don't tag mummy or mummification if they don't use traditional linen bandages because it would be historically inaccurate?
Don't you think there is a remote chance that the wrappings can be made by materials other than bandage?

I'd argue yes since mummification does imply that the person is dead, but this is about the wrappings, not the process and I think that saying duct tape is the same thing as several thousand year old bandages is kinda ridiculous in my opinion. Just because they're applied in a similar way doesn't mean they're the same thing.
