create implication alvinnn!!!_and_the_chipmunks (48) -> alvin_and_the_chipmunks (1001)
create implication alvin_and_the_chipmunks_(1983) (556) -> alvin_and_the_chipmunks (1001)
create implication alvin_and_the_chipmunks_(live-action) (281) -> alvin_and_the_chipmunks (1001)
create implication alvin_and_the_chipmunks_meet_the_wolfman (4) -> alvin_and_the_chipmunks_(1983) (556)
create implication the_alvin_show (2) -> alvin_and_the_chipmunks (1001)

Reason: These are all specific entries in the Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise.

edit: added The Alvin Show.

I don't have much knowledge on Alvin and the Chipmunks so I'd need a better explanation - for what purpose do these specific tags exist?

Unless there's something special about each series, e.g. unique characters or designs, it's normally all just merged into one tag.

IDK about the others but 1983 and live action have quite distinct character designs from one another.

From what I can find out, in addition to the live action movie characters actually looking like rodents compared to the nearly human-looking original 1983 cartoon characters, the Alvinnn! and the Chipmunks (2015-2023) version of the characters look more intermediate in appearance, looking more like traditional kemonomimi variants of their 1984 selves, complete with tails and fur patterns. The original The Alvin Show (1961-1962) characters were toonier variants of their 1983 versions. All four styles are recognizably different from each other.

There were two direct-to-video dark comedy horror movies produced in 1999 and 2000: Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein and Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman, both of which feature the 1983 versions, but both have a different version of a Chipmunk exclusive to that movie: Alvin as some sort of zany monster and Theodore as a werewolf. So far, only the second movie is represented here on e621.

I would propose that the OP BUR's implications of the four cartoon series to the franchise umbrella tag be kept, but the implication of alvin_and_the_chipmunks_meet_the_wolfman be aimed at alvin_and_the_chipmunks_(1983) instead, since that specifically is a continuation of the 1983 series. We could also throw in Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein implying alvin_and_the_chipmunks_(1983) just to futureproof it, but that's optional and probably not (yet) necessary.

I'd be wary of having different tags based solely on style, as opposed to more objective visual elements (like places and things). An artist's own style will influence the result, and they can be depicted in an amalgamation of different styles where it's subjective which (if any) the artist was going for.

In this case, I don't think it would be a problem, as the The Alvin Show posts currently on the site, both appear to be the artists deliberately imitating that style. One even contrasts it with the 1984 and 2015 styles. I think aliasing away the_alvin_show would defeat our purposes here.

If a picture is uploaded with the characters depicted in a style and scene which is ambiguous as to which version the artist was going for, that's what the umbrella tag is for. The picture would be tagged alvin_and_the_chipmunks without any of the series' tags.

There is also the The Chipmunk Adventure tag. Should that be implicated or aliased?

Good point. Since that's an extension of the 1983 series, it probably ought to imply Alvin and the Chipmunks (1983), same as Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman does.
