Topic: Tag Alias: ganguro_(artist) -> bakuradesunen

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Aliasing ganguro_(artist) → bakuradesunen
Link to alias

Reason:

Unifying conflicting tags. bakuradesunen has been the artist tag for a while, but the two most recent uploads were tagged as "ganguro_(artist)".

Google Translate turns Pixiv username "がんぐろ" to "ganguro", but the artist is labeled as "bakuradesunen" on several other sites.

I tagged all of those. I couldn't find the artist name anywhere and ganguro was being used for something else (though I'm not exactly sure what). As long as bakuradesunen is the actual artist name, I can move those over without any issues. Edit: Never mind, it's already empty. :O

If we decided to proceed with "Ganguro_(artist)", the disambiguation would be necessary because "Ganguro" alone is a thing.

"Ganguro (ガングロ?) is an alternative fashion trend among young Japanese women ... distinguished by a dark tan and contrasting make-up liberally applied ..."

I do not recall where "bakuradesunen" ever came up, but as previously stated: it's what the artist's works are tagged as at other sites.

Maybe it was a previous name of his. Pixiv allows users to freely change their display name (because their URL is a static number ID instead of said username).

Might be that the artist never used it at all.
I wouldn't consider any of those reliable sources, especially not Paheal. Some image boards tend to copy tags from other boards, so all it takes is a single mistag, and then it spreads everywhere else. I've seen that happen to several other Japanese artists.

For example, there's been several cases where someone mistook dialogue as signature, and started tagging the images as that. (Japanese artists rarely sign their work.)

Should be aliased to ganguro, since that's the artist's current nick.

It should actually be "Ganguro_(artist)".

Granted, there are very few instances of ganguro here. It is more common in boards like Danbooru where the predominant content is hentai featuring humans.

Admins may want to make a ruling on this.

We have people posting images by the artist in question, but are still everywhere about tagging; most content by said artist is already tagged as "bakuradesunen" and uploaders are tagging as "ganguro" without the "_(artist)" disambiguation to differentiate from the Japanese tan-and-makeup fashion.

Edit: Fuck it. I'll just manually retag the bakuradesunen images and hope future uploaders remember to include the "_(artist)" disambiguation. Still not sure where bakuradesunen came from, anyway. It was just his Pixiv nickname at the time his works were posted everywhere else, I guess.

The Japanese tan-and-makeup fashion is rare enough that I think it's simpler to just move those over to ganguro_(fashion) instead, which I just did.

I've approved an alias of ganguro -> ganguro_(artist) to reinforce usage of the tag, since it's likely that someone will end up changing it to the fashion style at some point. I'd be more comfortable making an alias of bakuradesunen -> ganguro_(artist) if we could find an official link between that name and the actual artist, but it seems highly likely that bakuradesunen might get tagged in the future (mistags or not) so it might be better to alias that as well. Let me know what you think of this plan.

A quick Google search for "bakuradesunen" only yields results related to the artist, so I would think that the bakuradesunen -> ganguro_(artist) alias would work fine. In fact, it may be a good idea since it looks like e621 is the only site that tags his works using his current Pixiv nickname (Ganguro).
