Greetings, and welcome to the 2024 Staff Drive!

Last year, we invited anyone interested in helping run e621's day-to-day operations to apply for a staff position. It was fairly successful: after sorting through hundreds of applications and conducting dozens of interviews, we brought seven new staff members on board.

Now, we are looking for new janitors and moderators once again.

If you are interested in joining the staff team, please read this post in its entirety, and then fill out the short questionnaire below. If you applied last time, please feel free to submit another application.

[ Application Form ]

โ€‹
The form will be open for two weeks and accept submissions until the 29th of March.

What we're looking for are dependable people that can regularly spare an hour or so to chip away at the site's post and ticket queue to help ensure everything runs smoothly.
We don't have any strict requirements except that you need to be friendly, helpful, and can keep a cool head when users are upset with you.
Your history on the site will be reviewed if you apply for a staff position. Don't worry if you had a record or two from years ago, though. We believe that people can change and grow over time, and some hiccups in the past are not going to ruin your chances here. However, you need to have some level of activity on your account so we can properly assess you.
The reference code is "watermelon". Remember this for when you are filling out your application.

These are volunteer positions, so your real life should take priority over e621.
The time requirements are not set in stone, and you will not be forced to handle anything outside of your comfort zone.
However, we do expect a minimum level of contribution from all applicants.

In case you are not familiar with the different positions, here are the official job descriptions:

Janitor

Janitors are responsible for the approval queue.
They perform the following tasks:

  • Approve submissions that follow the Uploading Guidelines and delete the ones that do not.
  • Review and handle post flags.
  • Review and handle post replacements.
Moderator

Moderators are responsible for the ticket queue.
They perform the following tasks:

  • Review and handle support tickets related to comments, forum posts, and blips.
  • Hand out records and bans to users who break the site rules.

Due to the volume of interest we will not be able to respond to everyone individually. If you have not heard from us by the end of May, then your application was likely rejected. However, we will keep it on file and may still refer to it later in the year.

Thank you for your interest.

I got a busy schedule and I am not sure if modding or being a janitor for the site is quite right for my job description, sure I know it's a volunteer position. But maybe in the future when this happens again I might take you up on the offer but I will apply to see if it works. Plus I check daily so it will be fun just checking daily to see what needs to be approved and what doesn't need to be approved if that is the whole job.

you know what, maybe I will apply for the janitor job. I am always online anyway and I sometimes just want to do something that isn't just scrolling through r/furryirl all day which trust me gets boring fast.

Why is there an option for people under 18 on an 18+ site?

That is something I ask myself but then again. I have seen people under 18 get banned for being under 18 on this site. So I think it might be a typo (Maybe)

This question had already been addressed both in this thread, and the previous one.
You can stop asking now, thank you.

So a question about it. Will be a small interview with a small portion of the candidates?
Just to be more precise with some details that might come in hand or should we try to put all relevant stuff to the table straight away?

My overthinking head is just loud thinking that I didn't put enough in there that I regret not doing lol

>If you are under the age of 18, please let us know, and we will reach out to you.
shouldn't this automatically be classified as an immediate ban until the user turns 18?

ignoring stickies is a really bad habit i need to fix, considering i'm 2 days late on this...

I mean, you probably shouldn't instaban them since a bad actor could literally just put any username in there. it'd be best to verify that said user actually put an application in before deciding to ban them.

We pick some people for an interview from this list after the applications close, and we may pick more from it in the future before the next opening.

You should put what you feel is relevant to at least get you in the door, we'll talk more in depth to the people that get chosen.

Oh so with that I believe that it's a bit annoying for more than one application per person right?
I just wanna make sure that I did enough, but that was really clear. Thanks

Welp i applied. Im always on this site, atleast 5 times a week. So hopefully i hear something =).

Our cinnamon roll budget had taken a hit this year.
Newly hired staff members will get one cinnamon roll total. To share.

Always during the busiest points of my life, lol. Maybe next year and best of luck to all applicants.

Greetings, and welcome to the 2024 Staff Drive!

Just wondering, if we've already submitted a form, but want to adjust, what should we do?
(Specifically, I applied for Janitor but want to extend to Moderator)

The role applied for isn't terribly important. If you want to make substantial corrections to your application, you may.

Is the reference code important :(
I submitted a very detailed applicant but I forgot that reference code thing bc it said optional! I would hate for that to ruin my chances to land a role!

Submitting an application without it is not an instant disqualification

thanks for clarifying, just wanted to make sure since it's obvious that no one under the age of 18 should even gain access to this site, nor be a mod of said site

While it was clarified in this thread, it was not done by a moderator, I think the question was valid given that reason.

just to be clear the answer "ThatFennec" gave was the correct answer? /gen

Yes.

Sent in an application, hoping I can do some good work and make a difference!

The staff drive is now CLOSED. Thank you everyone who participated. We'll still be reaching out to people in the weeks to come.
