Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: binary_drawing -> aliasing

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #68760 binary_drawing -> aliasing has been rejected.

Reason: I don't understand how this isn't just "digital drawing with aliasing". The connecting theme here is just that the lines are aliased.

And a lot of them aren't even tagged with aliasing, even though they should be: binary_drawing -aliasing

EDIT: The tag alias binary_drawing -> aliasing (forum #397745) has been rejected by @Nimphia.

This is a 3D render with stylistically-appropriate aliasing.

This is mixed media that combines 3D rendering with a binary drawing.

I mean, the second example is still aliasing. I'm not saying that other forms of media don't use aliasing, I'm saying that this tag is functionally identical to digital_drawing_(artwork) aliasing.

There aren't enough of these mixed media examples to make searching for 3d_(artwork) aliasing difficult. But if you really wanted to exclude them, 3d_(artwork) aliasing -mixed_media -digital_drawing_(artwork) should handle that.

In theory, a person could create a binary drawing with a bunch of right angles that entirely exclude aliasing-style blending, but I have serious doubts that such a piece world portray anything of quality, or anything relevant to e621.
I think this new proposal looks fine.

It absolutely is not.

the original drawing looks to have been done without antialiasing. the blurryness of the pixels on the drawing appear to be due to filtering from the drawing being scaled down, not antialiasing.

I agree this is the same as aliasing. Mixed media images are partially aliased/binary drawings and should still get the tags imo.

Unless you have a strong proof from the artist, I strongly disagree. If that is the argument we're going with, every image could potentially be a binary drawing simply downscaled by some ridiculous factor like 10.

There is absolutely a meaningful distinction between aliasing and binary drawings. This is ridiculous.
