Topic: how do i flag a post created by an artist under the age of 18?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Huh, I guess "underage artist" should be added to the list of options for either flagging or reporting posts. It's not an option for either.
@purocurry The "flag" and "report" links are on the left of the post, under the "Options" section beneath the +Favorite button.

I think that this would fit under the "Malicious file" report reason, which I believe is just for any post whose file breaks rules beyond the stuff that janators usually handle.

I don't think the report reason is actually _that_ important when filing a ticket, as long as you explain the problem in the space provided it should be fine.

It is probably not an accident that it's not there? I think you are supposed to contact an admin directly in those cases with good proof. We've had some jokers try to use it as a harassment method, so we can't have good things? :(

I've seen someone make these claims with an artist that has clearly been around for over a decade, and the only NSFW posts were new ones. You could tell that the earlier post was an animation unlikely to be done by someone the age they would have had to be. I called them out on it, too! Coincidentally, said user kept copy and pasting some "I am not abusing the system" disclaimer. Totally not a suspiciously specific denial. Sometimes I get a laugh out of reading the reports blotter, heh.

I usually just file my ticket under "Malicious Source" and explain and link to evidence and it gets handled pretty quickly.

this worked, thank you

It's 100% something for a ticket, and truth be told, we don't check that report option on post tickets. It wasn't even visible to us until some months ago. It exists to dissuade invalid reports via a matching reason not existing, though that clearly doesn't work. I'd rather see it entirely removed.

And in this case almost dissuaded a valid report. I can only imagine how many people have wanted to do the same thing, except they didn't come to the forum for help.

Yeah, either have all the valid reasons as an option for reporting, or not have any.

Having a relatively short list of report reasons implies a report has to fit within those criteria, and if it doesn't actually matter the report system needs to be reworked. Having a user explain why they're reporting a post instead of working within a ridged reporting system would be the most simple solution, otherwise you'd have to add more report types to accommodate the community. As the site evolves, that may require upkeep as rules are updated.
