remove implication boomer_(meme) (5) -> meme (46690)
remove implication zoomer_(meme) (0) -> meme (46690)
remove implication fidget_spinner (52) -> meme (46690)
remove implication jazz_hands (32) -> meme (46690)
remove implication shark_week (187) -> meme (46690)
remove implication schrödinger's_cat (7) -> meme (46690)
remove implication solo_jazz_pattern (55) -> meme (46690)
remove implication i_want_you (33) -> meme (46690)
remove implication triggered (25) -> meme (46690)
remove implication yolo (12) -> meme (46690)
remove implication emergence (23) -> meme (46690)
remove implication filthy_frank (44) -> meme (46690)
remove implication sharknado (9) -> meme (46690)
remove implication winnie_the_pooh's_home_run_derby (7) -> meme (46690)
remove implication rabbit_of_caerbannog (9) -> meme (46690)
remove implication uncle_sam (24) -> meme (46690)

Reason: I started another thread a bit ago to add implications of memes to meme and Watsit pointed out that the current implications on meme are a mess, so here's a BUR (well, a couple) to clean that up a bit.

This first part is simple, it's things that aren't memes, but just actual concepts, pieces of media, or characters, etc.

EDIT: The bulk update request #7412 (forum #399487) has been approved by @Rainbow_Dash.

remove implication free_hugs (43) -> meme (46690)
remove implication it's_a_trap (108) -> meme (46690)
remove implication lay_the_dragon (244) -> meme (46690)
remove implication nope (61) -> meme (46690)
remove implication the_more_you_know (245) -> meme (46690)
remove implication what_a_twist (48) -> meme (46690)
remove implication varying_degrees_of_want (15) -> meme (46690)

remove implication these_aren't_my_glasses (1847) -> meme (46690)
remove implication challenge_accepted (135) -> meme (46690)

Reason: And here's part 2, these get a little more tricky but still aren't memes.

Anyone against invalidating boomer_(meme) and zoomer_(meme)? What are they even for and why are they character tags‽

i want you's implication might be valid, but i'm not particularly bothered if it gets unimplied

I believe a lot of these stem from topic #27063

Yeah, that thread isn't great. It's why I went back to edit my big BUR to include source links for every tag.

nimphia said:

it's_a_trap, nope and a few others in these BURs are the names of memes and would certainly be valid redraw/format-type memes, but the tags' usage seem to extend past that and definitely deserve a split, at least.

nimphia said:

  • yeet is mostly just used for throwing in general it seems.

I've said this a few times before, I think the few exact word/phrase tags we have should be formated like "<thing>" I feel like "yeet" has the potential to be a valid tag with a potentially valid -> meme implication, but going by the current tag's wiki definition of "throwing something [...] in a particularly meme-y fashion." is obviously nonsense.

and that's why we don't do BURs with 100+ entries anymore (along with it apparently putting a lot of strain on the system).

The meme wiki is also a hot mess, maybe making a tag group wiki for a list of memes would be better than cluttering the main wiki page...

I feel like it ought to be split into a few distinct tags and each of those tags be given a coherent definition, similar to how meme_clothing works now. meme is such a gigantic tag with so many implications that it's kind of unmanageable.
I was thinking:
meme_format for redraws and the "drawing challenge" type stuff
meme_iconography for stuff like the Loss glyph and maybe ambient_among_us
meme_phraseology for copypastas and the like

I definitely think breaking it up would be a good idea, though there's a lot of grey area memes.

Brainstorming a bit based on your ideas and the current meme implications:

^ Examples are mostly arbitrary, specifics can be figured out if we like this idea

The bulk update request #7419 is pending approval.

change category awesome_face (190) -> copyright
change category trollface (159) -> copyright

Reason: ...While I'm on the meme topic, why are these in general? Memes are usually copyright tags. It's not a big deal, but I like to go through meme copytags:0 and these are a recurring annoyance.

Also I added these_aren't_my_glasses to the implication removal BUR above because it's another sort of generic novelty tag. In fact, there's a related (actual) meme tag, can't_see_the_haters. Unfortunately it'll be kind of a pain to clean up these_aren't_my_glasses meme...

Since the yes-no_pillow is an object, would general category maybe fit better than copyright? I'm not sure

Edit: wait I spaced and assumed that was one that got unimplied from meme. Additional question: should it be unimplied from meme? Is it enough of a meme?

Hm, I'm not sure. I don't think I mind either way if it gets unimplied or if it gets changed to a copytag, I'd just like one of the two for my sanity.

I wonder if this should instead be aliased to dogshaming. "dogshaming pokemon" would largely cover this, and the dogshaming wiki even includes examples of pokemon.

I think it fits better as a general (non-meme) tag. Similar to dakimakura/body_pillow, even if it's a kind of joke, it's a real visible and tangible thing that doesn't have to be humorous.

Yeah, I was honestly wondering the same thing about pokeshaming. I'm gonna remove these two for the moment.

Cleaning meme off of some of these is gonna be a pain in the ass. Especially these_aren't_my_glasses T-T

Oh, I didn't even see the second one wasn't approved yet, so for now I guess ignore this
