Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: myconid -> fungi_fauna

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

It's a specific species of anthropomorphic mushroom. While depictions vary, there's still definitely things in the fungi_fauna tag that wouldn't be relevant to people looking for myconids. Aliasing it away would be like aliasing khajiit to felid.

Yeah, I understand. What about implication instead of alias?

How strictly can Myconids be defined? WoTC hasn't been as zealous about policing Myconids as other mushrooms. I don't think the exact dnd corpse stealing, psychic spore spreading, mushroom people we know and love are the only thing the tag should refer to. But without that, is myconid any more specific than saying "mushroom humanoid"?

I thought myconid refers to these kinds of characters. https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/116642383
In case you can't visit the link, these characters look like they're humans wearing a mushroom hat. Something like toad_(mario) though the head is more realistic.
On the other hand, on the link scaliespe pasted, they don't look like a human at all

And posts tagged under myconid on e6 right now are kinda both?

well, those are all still under the blanket of fungi_humanoid.

but if we intend to keep myconid we shouldn't imply it to fungi_humanoid, because taurs.

It's not terribly uncommon for anime to borrow things from fantasy and take it in a totally different direction. It could arguably be split up, reserving myconid for the actual D&D depictions and moving the anime humanoid things to mushroom_humanoid, or we could just leave it as-is since even D&D depictions seem to vary a fair bit between the game's different versions and years of fan art.
