Scrolling through the posts with this tag and it's a MESS.

Character pairings that only make sense with the context of the timing (SSBU), one of the games just being abbreviated to the series (SSB4) [could bring up in a seperate forum thread but nah]

I reckon character pairings for the most part SHOULDN'T have the tag related to the game, as the characters alone isn't enough for that.
Dialogue referencing them getting in? Yep that's referencing SSBU!

The reason why I mention SSB4 is because I saw a green lucario tagged with SSBU (was a SSB costume), when that costume originated in SSB4!

What do you think about this? Should the tags be done differently?

I could see Smash Bros. remaining a convenient shorthand for a more specific tag search with unrelated Nintendo characters (~robin_(fire_emblem) ~lucina_(fire_emblem) ~marth_(fire_emblem) chartags:>=2 is going to return a lot of Smash Bros. pairings if only because these characters lack e621 relevancy on their own.), but regardless of the fate of Smash Bros. pairing tags, there are a multitude of Smash-only elements that should be tagged but are not.

• smash logo is undertagged, could possibly need an alias to reflect Nintendo's branding rather than the casual "smash" shorthand.
• battlefield (super_smash_bros) and final destination are both undertagged.
• There are further icons like Spirits, and Smash-only items.
• Character reveal parodies.

If the tag needs a cleanup to remove it from pairings, posts depicting these Smash-only elements should be collected/tagged in advance.

Agreed with the last sentence! Perhaps I should start looking for those smash-only stuff (or at least tagging them the moment I see them)

This I COULD see, but when looking at the tag half the time the pairings confuse me due to having literally no relevance aside from a big stretch (the one that caused me to make this post in the first place was a ridley/corrin pairing)
