Topic: Double click to edit notes

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

As title. I wanted to gather opinions on thoughts about double clicking to edit notes? I find this way more intuitive than clicking the note's content.

I've already made the code for this here so this thread was really just to get opinions on if it's a good idea.

Sounds good to me! The main concern would be "are people (non-translators, who don't know what they're doing) going to accidentally edit or delete notes with this?". I don't think it's all that common, but this year in particular, I've already seen that happen three times. It's hard to say if this change could worsen that, but I think it should be fine.

Not a hardcore translator, but I prefer how it already is

Just to be clear, I'm not removing the current way. I'm just adding another way, that I personally think is more intuitive.

I do not think that would be a good idea…
As a heavy tagger myself, I think that double clicking to create notes might lead to some problems, such as accidentally creating notes that serve no purpose.
But…creating a keyboard shortcut of H to instantly show the history of tag edits/description edits would be nice…

Double clicking would not create a note. You can only double click to edit an existing note. Meaning you could double click on a note box to edit it rather than clicking on the note's text body.

To clear any confusion around this, let me give an example:

Currently to edit, you need to click on this box (which only pops up when hovering the note box):

My proposed idea would also allow you to double click on this box:

So you could do either of these to edit the note now. Since it's rather unintuitive to click the small text popup to edit the note's content, or even to move/size it.

Oh! That is a wonderful idea! Please, make that happen!

Hmm, we need some userscripts for this sort of stuff in a sticky? It would be nice to have a topic containing collections of CSS mods linked from it in first post, too?

Great, especially when people have to add many notes on one image (like notes for character names.)

Hmm, I disable the N key thing, but does that work well?

I don't have much tech savvy, but I think it should. You use N only when you add a new note.
Tarrgon's feature is for editing notes, so you can use it without N key.
