Topic: [REJECTED] Live2D BUR

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #7896 has been rejected.

create alias live2d_(artwork) (0) -> live2d (1)
create implication live2d (1) -> 2d_animation (45867)
change category live2d (1) -> meta

Reason: A tiny mixup happened while I was dealing with program tags, but this is easy to handle since I just made live2d_cubism_(artwork) for the Cubism software.

Live2D is an animation technique where characters are split up into parts and rigged as models that can then be moved procedurally without requiring manipulation of each part, often using face/body tracking, but not always.

I'm unsure if it should imply motion_tweening since unlike most motion tweening it's not done manually. However, regardless, it should be in the meta category and imply 2D animation.

I'm not implying any Live2D software to Live2D because they can always be used to export still frames rather than animated images.

EDIT: The bulk update request #7896 (forum #403293) has been rejected by @Nimphia.

Are people going to know the difference between the tags, and simply tag live2d for a character portrait of a live2d avatar in a static image? There are also a bunch of posts tagged with live2d that's simply motion_tweening, made well before the software was created and seems to have been based on Flash animations. If it's not going to be an alias for the software, it should just be invalidated, IMO. motion_tweening is what that 2D animation style is called, but it's easily confused for the software or certain vtuber avatar styles.

The tricky part is that Live2D is used as a generic term for an animation technique: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live2D

Additionally, motion tracking is a huge aspect of Live2D even if it's not always utilized. But I'd agree that it's hard to tell apart from motion tweening and the sources online are just making me more confused, TBH.

From the Wikipedia page:

There is a common misconception that Live2D refers to the software used to create Live2D animation. Due to the popularity of Live2D Cubism, people often equate Live2D (the animation technique) with Live2D Cubism (the software). However, Live2D is an animation technique, not the software used to create Live2D animation. There are other software options used to create Live2D animation, such as Inochi2D or E-mote (which used in Tokyo School Life).

Live2D was first introduced in 2008 to resolve the need for interactive media. Since then, the technology has also changed how games enhance user experience through lively characters and expressions.

In 2009, Cybernoids Co. Ltd. (now Live2D Ltd.) released their very first Live2D application, Live2D Vector. The application transforms vector graphics to make flat character images achieve three-dimensional head turning and moving effects.

The existence of this tag isn't a hill I intend on dying on, I'm just trying to figure out what the hell's up with it. If others think it'd be better aliased to Cubism or motion_tweening, I'm fine with that too.
