Topic: [REJECTED] move left_to_right to meta

change category left_to_right (0) -> meta

Reason: Same with right_to_left. It shows information about the image itself. (topic #41944)

I think most people read from R to L when they're reading Japanese comics. So this tag should make it less confusing when it should be read from L to R like English.

Because right_to_left exists, ideally -right_to_left japanese_text comic should work.
But right_to_left itself is very undertagged and only has 580 posts right now.
That's why I think this tag is useful.

I don't think left_to_right is needed since that's the normal way content here is read. It would be better to help tag right_to_left more thoroughly.

Do you read Japanese comics from L to R then?
This tag is specifically for languages that should usually be read from R to L.

The reasons you have given does nothing to justify for the tag's existence. It only talks about how right_to_left exists, therefore so should left_to_right.
If right_to_left is very undertagged, then one should work towards improving the current tag rather than creating a brand new tag that could become as equally undertagged.

In addition, most (English) comics are already left_to_right by default and most readers would know to read as such. You don't need a tag to tell them that.
Unless you are making right_to_left a Japanese comic exclusive tag (which you shouldn't anyways), I don't really see the need for such a tag.

I feel that I don't need to tell you how that is an incredibly bad idea.

Well that is fair. I'll make a new tagging project for that.

Then how should people know if Japanese comics should be read from left to right like English?

I have not heard of a Japanese comic that was flipped to left_to_right other than when it was done for publishing to Western audiences. And that was for physical copies and in English.
So, I find it hard to believe that Japanese artists would draw their comics in Japanese text and then publish it online in that manner.

Of course, there is also the off chance that it was originally an English comic that was translated to Japanese text. However, we would favour the original English text version in that case.

The most likely problem to occur though is people misusing left_to_right on English comics.

Actually, would you read this from R to L, or L to R? post #4005447 (and its child post)

It's interesting that you mention it. I thought right_to_left shouldn't be tagged on Japanese comics because it is R to L by default anyways.
