Huh, what keeps it in processing for quite a while? Usually it happens rather quickly (though the ones that don't aren't usually bumped to new and there's no indication in the forums when an alias is approved vs finally active)

The queue was likely filled with other things of the same priority
multiple jobs are processed in parallel, but only so many can be executed at a time
