Topic: [APPROVED] Irreplaceable better version at source

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #8562 is active.

change category irreplaceable_bvas (257) -> meta
create implication irreplaceable_bvas (257) -> better_version_at_source (2488)
create alias irreplaceable_better_version_at_source (0) -> irreplaceable_bvas (257)
create alias ibvas (0) -> irreplaceable_bvas (257)

Reason: Many of better_version_at_source is taken up by posts that have a version at the source which is incapable of being added to e621 due to some constraint. Whether it's file size, dimensions, anything.

This makes it hard to search the tag and handle files which are possible to be replaced with the better version. I propose this tag to be added to such cases where the file is not able to be added to e6.

This will allow us to search bvas -irreplaceable_bvas to find posts that can be replaced on site, and then replace them.

EDIT: The bulk update request #8562 (forum #408368) has been approved by @scaliespe.

Missed opportunity to throw another confusing 4 letter acronym onto the pile: ivas

Last edit, and don't worry, we can have a 5 letter acronym: ibvas

Was gonna add this to some posts but before I start going down a rabbit hole I should probably ask if cases where a source has a larger version that cannot be accessed/downloaded (such as dA sources with no download link) qualify for this tag?

Also, bvas uvas? Would these count?

I added a basic wiki page, feel free to make any changes. It's just meant to get something down, I based it off the BVAS wiki.

I did include the aforementioned cases but if they're not included in the tag feel free to just remove them.

Your wiki seems good. As for it being unavailable and better, that's probably a fine case for this tag since it being unavailable at source and better does technically fit the obvious interpretation of the tag. That being a version at the source which is better and unable to be used for any reason. There wasn't a whole lot of talk on the overall purpose of the tag, just something that we thought should be added so that we can actually get to handling these since we've got a bit more time now that the queue is typically staying under 500 posts at any given time
