Topic: Getting Rid of Twincest

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #8668 is pending approval.

remove alias twincest (0) -> twincest_(lore) (2816)
remove implication twincest_(lore) (2816) -> twins_(lore) (9166)
remove implication twincest_(lore) (2816) -> incest_(lore) (53174)

Followup:

alias twincest -> incest_(lore)
alias twincest_(lore) -> incest_(lore)

This tag is redundant, it's basically just incest_(lore) + twins_(lore). We don't have separate tags for other types of specific familial relation incest so I don't think we should for this either (even if it does have a snappy name lol).

Your reasoning is totally fair, but IMO the "snappy name" does matter a little bit. We tag "unicorn" and "pegasus" instead of "horse + horn" and "horse + wings" because of cultural relevance, for example. Aren't twins a "special" type of siblings, technically?

...we tag unicorn and pegasus because those are established mythological creatures that have a long-standing presence in history and media, I don't think twincest is really anywhere near that level.

Flipside: less tagging when you only need single tag for both incest and twins. No reason to get rid of tags that have been working well.

Though twincest was more useful when it wasn't a lore tag. Back when it was actually twys, and only tagged for characters that looked like twins. Now it's got interspecies and all mixed in, not what one looks for when searching for twincest.

Do we have an alternative to replace that, then? Identical_partners for example. Something that ignores lore but offers an answer to the What You See "twins".

I'd offer selfcest but that tag gets mistagged a lot and should probably be switched to a lore tag, honestly.

That's why it's called selfCEST; incest with yourself.

Selfcest isn't really incest. You aren't actually your own family.
