this whole human child purging debacle made me discover how to delete previously removed posts from my favorites. 5 years... it took me 5 whole years to discover this.
Anyway, the auto-mod is deleting almost anything with human or child tags. It's silly. For example, a simple stealthy beach sex scene could be compromised just because the unaware characters in the background just so happen to be either human or children

They mentioned they weren't given a lot of time to comply, so it seems they went with some kind of simple young ~human ~humanoid -rating:s search (maybe not that exactly, but something fairly broad), which did catch a lot of posts that don't run afoul of the new rule. It would've taken too much time to be more precise. They've said they're going to be looking over a bunch the deleted posts and restoring what shouldn't have been deleted, and you can always request an admin double check specific deleted posts you think should be fine.

I think a thread for stuff people believe didnt meet the new restrictions wuld help.

although trying to request an un-delete a mass deletion is harder due to the lack of thumbnails and images etc.

You mean the searching your favourites and adding the status:deleted search term? Yeah its rather interesting that we can see what faves we have deleted that way.

Also makes it easy to find which ones were purged from your own faves, as they will have the takedown request be called that.

But yes, especially for any image that has sources that don't exist anymore, or ones without sources, its impossible really for us to know if its an image that needs to be brought back or not.

exactly, very hard to request an un-delete without access to the image

I think a distinction between child and young would have spared a lot of posts

I think they use "young" over "child" for a couple reasons.
Obviously the TWYS rules exist, so it helps people who aren't into child-like characters regardless of age completely avoid seeing it (because a 3000 year old dragon loli isn't a child, but looks young)

Also in the light of harsher crack downs on and vitriol towards NSFW sites, a lot of laws for places tend to not make exceptions for character canonical age and instead simply have some clause to the tune of "reasonably perceived to be a child" meaning the stuff tagged "young" instead of "child" would likely still have to be removed if the legal side is playing any role in E621's decision to remove it all.
