Topic: [Feature] More pool edits!

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

I would appreciate being allowed more pool edits.

I’m trying to add the artist name to pool titles who don’t have it, but I keep bumping into the hourly limit.

That limit exists to stop abusive behavior, which is frankly exactly what you're doing
Pools do not need the artist name in them if the pool name is unique, stop making these edits

Searching pools by artist is very useful. I’d way rather do that than remember pool titles.

you really should stop doing this to old, pools it's really annoying to see something that hasn't updated in a while get bumped to the top of the pools gallery. if a gallery has already been recently bumped there's not much harm in adding the name otherwise, leave it.

EDIT: also, just entirely stop adding (deleted) to the front end of pools with deleted content. what's even the point of that? we can see that it's deleted since the thumbnail is just a light gray box with the word Deleted in it.

also, Mod Donovan_DMC could you also please not mass undo these changes as well, it's causing the same annoying problem for no reason.

Because the thumbnail doesn’t show on a search.

how???

click the text labeld Show Search Options near the top of the page.

that button exists on most of the non-post non-wiki pages of the site, actually.

Ah crap, I didn't realize I was causing a problem by double-checking old pools I edited/created. :( Granted, it was only 2-3 out of dozens if I remember right.
:Edit:
It was the Karno, WH40K and 3 Divine Acid pools so 5, total, although only 3 stories.

Updated

FYI I'm pushing for a feature that allows searching the artists on the posts directly, it's been delayed a bit but it's currently set for August 19th
With this change hopefully on the horizon I'd love if you didn't add artist names to any pools, regardless of why you're editing or creating them

That seems like it'd be a problem if the creator isn't the artist. Sometimes the writer is the owner/creator of the comic, and the artist is someone they hired (or the artist is a co-creator, leaving the other co-creator/writer untagged). It also seems like it could be a problem for larger pools of longer series, for instance a comic that's largely done by one artist, who had a bit of help from an artist friend of theirs for a couple of pages, out of several hundred total (and counting). The artist tags on posts in a pool don't seem like a reliable source for who created the work in a pool.

Another problem is pools which would share the same name if not for the artist name, such as the two pools called unexpected guest

It's good that we will have this artist search feature, it won't solve all the problems dealing with pools (as the posts above detail it) but it will help a lot.

Some comics had credit for writing, translation, drawing, and shading. That's where you use this thing called a description? :p

Is there a way to search for what it is in the descriptions? Also lots of pool makers are lazy and will just write the title without an artist, no description and leave as it, writing the artist/writer on the title is "less bad" imo.

click "Show Search Options" in the top left.
