Topic: [REJECTED] Tag implication: sivkit_(the_nature_of_predators) -> mammal

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

These feel very lagomorph-like. That would probably be a more useful implication than the extremely generic mammal tag.

Still don't know why some fictional species are allowed to implicate a classification (e.g. charr -> felid, argonian -> scalie) but not others (e.g. lopunny -/> lagomorph, guilmon -/> scalie).

Inertia.

I mean, who wants to request species implications for all 1000+ Pokémon and all 1500+ Digimon (or at least those that currently exist on-site)? There actually was an attempt to sort all Pokémon into species in the Discord server, though that project was left unfinished last I checked. Point is, nobody has really tried to tackle that massive project before, so the implications remain nonexistent.

There’s also the fact that some people argue that Pokémon (and maybe also Digimon?) should be treated as both species tags and character tags simultaneously, which would inherently make any species implication invalid. I don’t really see the point in that, though. Outside of a handful of exceptions, Pokémon are not individuals, and there may be any number of individual Pikachus or Charizards. Even with the few that are meant to be individuals, like Mewtwo or Arceus, there’s nothing stopping people from making OCs based on them, so I don’t know what character status is meant to accomplish. I think it’s just something that someone came up with years ago and it stuck for some reason. Still, I expect that objection to come up should a complete Pokémon species implication BUR finally be created.

Plus, proper character tags still get created for identifiable individual pokemon, despite going by their pokemon name. e.g. ash's_pikachu, grovyle_the_thief, dusknoir_(eotds). There's no reason their species tag needs to (or should) also act as a character tag, IMO.
