I've been using this site for a long time, but when I was looking into making a tool that uses e621's tags I noticed that there was a difference between the recommendations that pop up when making a search and the results from searching in the tag listings. When you type in something like "male" into the search bar, you get a set of suggestions (potentially with aliases showing their implication) in descending order by number of posts with that tag. However, when you search in the Tags page for "male*" (wildcard in place to make sure that more than one result is shown) you get an entirely different set of tags. Placing the wild card at just the beginning or at both the end and the beginning doesn't change this either.
I was looking into it, because I thought that it was strange. However, when searching in the Aliases tab under Tags, and searching "male*" with the "Active" status and the order as "Post Count", the unique results in the "To" column do match the suggestions in most search bars (at least to what I can tell). There does seem to be a discrepancies between the aliases that are present in the recommendations and the aliases that appear in the Alias Listings.
I would like for e621 to implement the tagging suggestions into their API, it would make recommending tags that are typed in for my tool feel natural and a part of e621 instead of something trying to mimic it. (Plus, programming with this new feature would be much easier, and I suspect that it wouldn't be too hard because e621 already does this calculation)
