Technically this is off-topic? IDK. My strange-ass question is: are all of the mascots' art pieces that appear on the launch page (the initial page of e621.net), to our knowledge, fully copyrighted by the original artists? Or does the copyright belong to the e6 administration? Thanks!

The mascots' copyright belongs to e6. They're not from user submissions, but are rather commissioned.

Who cares?! The mascots are really well done. The original art belongs to the artists and they are very kindhearted to let them be a part of e6

The Wikimedia Foundation, that's who. They don't like hosting images that they aren't sure about the rights of. It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of their really, really not wanting to run afoul of the DMCA.
