Topic: Tag Alias: bimbo -> invalid_tag

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Reason: We can't actually see a 'bimbo' in an image unless there's text provided to sort-of support it. Also, it's arbitrary even then.

And it's a gender-specific tag.

What about that character from the Betty Boop animations? He is named Bimbo.
Maybe this would be better as a disambiguation or something

Well, by bimbo, I mean the general tag that is applied to a picture that includes a female being A) physically sexy and B) dumb as rocks.

The concept of a bimbo is therefore arbitrary. But if it's a character's name, then we should only alias the general tag 'bimbo' to 'invalid_tag', not the character tag.

What? In what way is this tag dependent on text in any way? It's a tag used to describe female/herms with a certain style to them. The most common one being large lips, large fake breasts, blonde hair, and ditsy posturing.

And I can most certainly confirm that this is a fetish.
So you'll get a -1 from me.
Tho, if emo and goth gets aliased to invalid_tag as well, then that -1 might change to a +1.

Okay then, let's do that too.

But those parameters for a character being a 'bimbo' are still very arbitrary.

+1
Very rarely used (73 pics), too ambiguous and gender specific tag.

Is there even anything remotely furry in Betty Boop? I'm actually asking because I wasn't aware there was.

The dictionary definition for it is "an attractive but empty-headed young woman, especially one perceived as a willing sex object", which I think is usable enough, I never liked the word myself, but you can certainly tag based on that.

I agree that bimbo doesn't need text, you can definitely look "empty-headed" without text; just look at caricatures some time.

emo seems like it only started getting tagged to make fun of people's bad fursonas. I have no idea if anyone searches for it, but there's only been about 15 tagged within the last year, and some I wouldn't even really consider emo. If it was a few years ago I might consider nuking emo, but it doesn't really seem like it's that much of a thing anymore so I'm not sure what the point would be.

bimbo_(bakery) (yes, it actually has a post)

Just me keeping track of these "style" terms.

Might come in handy (wiki or future use or something). feel free to suggest adding some.

That too - I forgot to mention that it's gender-specific.

It's not usable at all.
First of all "attractive" is not usable at all. I wouldn't tag most pictures with bimbo if attractive is part of definition.
Empty headed is probably most usable part, but there are pics like
post #559138
where character does not show signs of being empty headed.
"one perceived as a willing sex object" is also subjective and is also not present on all pictures tagged with this tag.

^This. It really is just too subjective. Also, you can't exactly see empty-headedness.

Ignoring the title at the top, I would definitely count this as bimbo:

I'm still on the fence as to whether it makes sense to alias it though, it's not a hugely used tag and I wasn't even aware that people used the word "bimbo" anymore, it seems like so long ago that I heard it out loud.

On the other hand, it also seems like it used as a lazy fluff tag like slut is (to a lesser extent) so I think we should at least remove the "obviously not a bimbo" posts and see what we have left. I'm going to look at the tag history for who's been tagging it and see if it's being used by multiple people at least.

Edit: ~3-4 users seem to tag it the most, the others are pretty random.

Yeah, that's exactly the point :I

Sorry, I'm trying to be unbiased about it so that I can look at it subjectively, but it actually annoys me how it's being used as a tag at all. I think this is probably clouding my judgement a little bit.

Well, yeah.

It annoys me, and I see that it's unsuitable as a tag regardless of annoyance, which is why I made the thread. :I

So, is there any final word on this? pls? :I

Unless it's a cut and dry thing (like blue_cock -> blue_penis) the mods usually wait a week or so to give room for discussion before making a final decision (unless it's a particularly complicated issue).

For future reference, it's better to use the alias tool for things like this so that it gets stuck into their backlog rather than risking it getting lost in the forums.

In German, the word "Bimbo" is an offensive & disparaging slur for black persons of sub-Saharan African descent.

Okay..?

That's not what we're discussing though. Besides, why would a racial slur be used as a tag?

I thought it was interesting.

so how bout them slut tags

You mean slutty? It's proposed in forum #151672 but I haven't gotten to it yet (if you'll notice, I'm doing them alphabetically for the most part). It'll be gone soon, but I was hoping to give it a once over before invalidating it to make sure there aren't similar tags we could use for this (think skimpy).
