Topic: Some users here have no idea how to treat others, it seems.

It is beginning to disappoint me greatly, how some of the users of this website seem to have nothing but hostility to them, and the only time they interact with others, is when they want to needlessly mistreat someone. It may just be the Internet, and this sort of thing may be commonplace on it, but I do not understand how one can genuinely think and live like that:

Signing up for an account on this website, only to use it to bully people, from mocking people for their kinks, to referring to those who express unpopular opinions as "crying", among many other nasty things. I'll admit there have been times where I've been unpleasant, but these people I'm typing about don't seem to have anything nice to say, ever.

And I really can't imagine how one can think and live like that, either online or offline. I initially didn't want to type about this, but I knew deep down there'd be no other way for me to get how I feel about this out of my system. That, and it's honestly a huge problem this website has, where the true problem users go unnoticed constantly.

The type of comments you leave (e.g., on post #4961753, post #4993071, post #5022961, post #5054289, post #4977945) makes you come off as being whiny and complaintful.
People want to enjoy their artworks/kinks without seeing you comment "um actually ๐Ÿค“, this is unrealistic" or "it will look better if...", so don't get surprised if you receive flak for your own hot takes.

But, when it's like what happened on post #4977945, that's when I believe it's less about receiving flak and more about being nasty for the sake of it. It doesn't help the user there has been on this website since 2020, yet does practically nothing with there account.

When it's coming from an account like that., that's when it feels more like it's targeted. Because why would that person, who's barely here, go to that specific submission and reply to me of all people like that?

I'll admit I've been prudish for quite some time, and it's a habit I must kick. But I'll always express the opinions that I've got (though I'll do my best to reword them).

My reply to that user was a bit heated, but I felt like that was something I needed to state. The last thing I was is to be deterred from interacting with the website, by someone who almost never foes.

"Interspecies breeding and mpreg? On my fantasy porn website? I must complain about it unprompted!"

"Targeted" would mean they are following you to every comment you make and responding to you negatively.
In that case, you can report them for Harassment and they will get punished for it.

However, since your own comments are just "unpopular opinions", people would feel compelled to call you out for it.
If you make comments airing out your own personal grievances to an artist/post, then it is considered to be Disruptive Behavior on your part.
If you kinkshame or complain about certain artwork elements that you dislike, then it will be considered as Refusal to Use Blacklist.

When you put it that way, yes, it looks like I really am being no better than the people on websites like Twitter and Tumblr. And, believe me, becoming like the people from those horrid places is the last thing I want.

Very well. If that's the case, I'll try to do better from now on. I don't agree with every kink out there, but the last thing I want is to become yet another pride on social media. I did report the comment I got under the comoc page on Mrs. Otterton, though.

As for my reply to them, it wasn't out of a wish to disrupt things and cause a ruckus. With how much bullying happens on the Internet, let alone on e621, I felt like I needed to say something, instead of just letting such a demeaning statement sit.

you comment so much right now, ~150 per month average, with an average comment score of 0.28. you just gotta think a bit before hitting that submit button; make sure you're actually contributing to a conversation rather than post just whatever angry/vapid/whatever thought is in your head at the moment.

don't comment just to comment.

People like huge out of place tits and dislike being told the thing they like doesn't belong. To the degree that what you posted violates comment rules (failure to blacklist.)
You might even be lucky they'd rather scream at you than report you.

I guess someone else explained that in the half hour I was reading a different thread though.

Yes, this is true, too; I've made it a habit of saying pretty much whatever's on my mind, and that can get pretty insufferable and chaotic over time. It's a habit I absolutely need to kick.

Yes, they did. It's alright, though, you definitely added to the discussion. I'm starting to see the situation in a much better light, now, I must admit.

Thank you for at least realizing your mistakes after they've been explained to you. You're a far better person than most people who make threads like this.

I've noticed a handful of individuals over time that seemingly never comment anything but attacks or insults, and I've started to simply filter them out via the custom CSS option in settings:
.comment-post-grid[data-creator-id="IDHERE"] { display: none; }
It's not perfect, as it doesn't hide what they say when someone quotes them (and if they're an argumentative annoyance, it's likely someone will) but it helps.
Admittedly I also use it for a couple other things, such as the "funny-man" type who constantly comment jokes for upvotes, or the ones who boast that they "logged in at the right time" or whatnot. But it simply highlights the point that it may be better to avoid the individuals who annoy you instead of replying.
'course, there's always gonna be more of them by the day. So it's a never-ending struggle.

Blacklist can be made to apply to users.
