I have a question: are upvotes permanent? I recently ran into some comics (Frisky Ferals - No Harm No Fowl, Predators of Kilimanjaro, Zootopia: The Big Date (Jack & Skye)) that I know I've upvoted in the past, and they were no longer upvoted. When my account was new I would use upvotes (or downvotes) to keep track of which pages I've read in a comic, now I see that it might have been a bad idea.

They are. However, there is one particular caveat; when a post is replaced using the old method (upload new, flag old) favorites get transferred to the new one, but upvotes do not.

You can always check if this is the case by looking at the post events and whether or not favs have been transferred.

I see, thanks for letting me know. There are always so many pics that deserve to be upvoted, tons of great art here.

I occasionally use votedup:me status:deleted parent:any or votedup:me delreason:*inferior* to find any posts that were deleted and replaced so I can transfer the upvote to the new one.

I wish we'd just release the replacement feature already, votes not being transferred really bothers me, especially when reuploads usually end up with less votes than the original.

Thanks for the additional search tools. I didn't know delreason:*inferior* existed. Anyway, I kind of wish that there was a keyboard shortcut to upvote and downvote posts and I also wish that upvote mode and downvote mode weren't locked to privileged accounts. It would make upvoting excellent posts so much faster.

re621 has upvote as a shortcut as a feature, though base e621 does not
