Topic: Question about Tag Rules and Tag What You See (TWYS)

Posted under General

Let's get straight to the point:
Karee's aware that she could blacklist the characters/artists in question, but she'd prefer not to incase the artists start making something she likes or if the characters have a change of form/design to something that's delightful to her.

But also there's tons of furry characters with the exact same name too with differing species/anatomy whom she doesn't want to get caught in the "crossfire", just look at how many furries are named "zephyr" in some way or another and that's a pretty good example of she means.

So she'd rather stick to filtering out specific content tags, so with all that in mind:

Karee has -humanoid_penis in her search filters all the time, it's a turn off and she'd prefer to not see it and smites it out of her search results by adding humanoid_penis to the tags of a post if it somehow fails to have that in the tag list when it has the corresponding content within it (which is common for some accursed reason)

She wants to know what the limits are to tagging so she doesn't do anything bad that'd cause her to be perceived as abusive/malicious, would anyone care to elaborate/explain everything as to what can be done?

There's one question on her mind right now, mostly about circumstantial content and common content default relative to certain characters/artists:

If a character has/artist draws humanoid penis either all the time or most of the time, is it okay to tag the character/artist's male art as having a humanoid penis by default (unless illustrated other wise), even if their genitalia is not in clear view in explicate images where it's clearly being used or suggested it's being used off screen via illustration?

we don't imply those sort of tags to characters or artists no. it would cause issues if the character is drawn in a different way. and there's no way to have something implicate something only part of the time.

for the penis part, as long as it is a humanoid penis and you add the humanoid_penis tag you are fine. but if you add the humanoid penis to posts that don't feature humanoid penises you'd be in trouble if that makes sense.

asking questions in 3rd person makes it really hard to read, so i hope i answered what i thought you were asking.

No, that's not how tags work. If there's no penis there's no penis.

Ah, so Tag What You See is very strictly based on what's visibly displayed in the picture, even if people who are familiar with a character from other posts and knows they have the things they don't like but can't be marked as having said things because it's not visible?

Yes and characters with identical names get separate tags, usually suffixed with the name of the artist they belong to. With your "zephyr" example, zephyr doesn't even exist. It's disambiguated for the exact reason you described. It is instead disambiguated to more specific character tags:
zephyr_(dragon)
zephyr_(direwing_wolf)
zephyr_(rubberbutt)
zephyr_(zephyr_lightwing)
zephyr_the_hyena

If you find two characters sharing the same tag, that's a misattribution and should be corrected.

Yea... She probably should have asked all this sooner but it didn't quite cross her mind until more recently when more complicated questions related to tagging and such manifested that couldn't really be answered by simply studying how many posts are tagged, cause there's fair amount of posts that seem weirdly tagged that's thrown her off and caused confusion a fair pawful of times.

Karee might have messed up a little on the tagging of a few pictures but most of them are accurate, is there any way of seeing tag edit history so she could undo the ones that were tagged incorrectly by mistake?

On your profile page, the number next to Post Changes is a link to see your edit history.

yeah a few of those should be cahnged. if you can't see the penis don't assume it's humanoid, even if you know they're usually drawn with a humanoid penis. a few of those shouldn't even be tagged penis to begin with because the penis isn't visible

Karee is an understand creature, if ever seeing characters with the invalid disambiguated tag thingy or multiple of the same name, she'll try to fix them with a suffix of the artist who owns them whenever possible~

Ooo, yay~!
Karee was hoping there's a edit history thingy somewhere~
She just couldn't seem to find it~
Thankies lots~<3

May I ask why you are talking in third person?

More questions about tagging: (Karee will continue using humanoid_penis as the tag example since it's relevant.)

Would all pages of a comic pool be marked with humanoid_penis if some pages of the comic feature it or would only the pages that feature humanoid penis be the ones tagged?

Would penis_outline be within the realms of marking as humanoid_penis and penis if the form/shape are clearly/mostly visible through clothing?

Only pages with a visible humanoid penis should be tagged humanoid_penis. Other pages of a comic don't matter for tagging a given page.

penis_outline doesn't imply penis, so I'd think humanoid_penis shouldn't be tagged when it's just the outline and the penis itself isn't visible. Though if the outline is detailed enough that you can clearly tell it's humanoid style penis, I'd think a tag like that should apply, so I'm not completely sure.

It is part of how Karee communicates with others normally~
Think how Khajiit talk~
They're based on earth folk of differing cultures and dialects who speak akin~
She speaks similarly to them and Khajiit~

Since humanoid_penis implies penis and penis must be visible to be tagged, you shouldn't tag the style of penis when obscured by clothing.

Guess it's safe to say that this one for example: https://e621.net/posts/4537907 shouldn't have the humanoid_penis / penis and related tags then?

Even if the outline is detailed enough to where one can tell it's a humanoid_penis?

Karee is asking cause she's seen at least a couple of posts like that in the past.

Tag What You See means exactly what it sounds like. If something's visible, you tag what you're seeing. If something isn't visible, you don't tag what you're not seeing.

If an outline is clear enough to accurately determine the shape without prior knowledge, then the tag would be appropriate. But maybe I'm just missing something in the post you linked?

Okayzies~
Karee thinks everything that was mistakenly tagged should be fixed now~
Sorry in advance if she missed anything~

Thankies for all the helpful replies~
If anyone has any more advice/info to give, feel free to share it~<3
Otherwise she might be good now with all those questions answered~

(Sorry, this was originally a reply to LendriMujina but Karee seems to have accidently clicked Edit instead of Reply when trying to make the new entry which meant to be what's written above.)

You can look up Tag What You See for more info about the tagging policy.

In general, we only tag it if it appears on the image itself, not because we assume it to be by default.
E.g., We do not automatically tag every single Mario post with human male moustache etc. because we know that he looks like that most of the time. Instead, we only tag it when we see that he is indeed appearing as such, just in case there were moments that he is either crossgender, alternate_species, in cosplay by another character, etc.

It is important to maintain TWYS that way as it allows for efficient searching and blacklisting.
If we were to tag things because it appears that way "most of the time", then you would break everybody's search query and blacklists because tags are appearing in places where they should not be in.

Also, just as a side note, be sure to read the wikis of the tags you are using (by clicking on the "?" next to them) and to look up how they are used before you add them onto posts.
While penis may be for physical appearance the genitals itself, you may add in penile for actions that involve the penis (but not necessarily when we can see the penis itself).
So if you see a male character having sex with another character but do not see the penis itself, then you may tag it as penile_penetration, obscured_penetration, etc.
